Electric cars roll into Saint Lucia

Saint Lucia’s journey toward a sustainable transport future officially accelerated on October 16 with the media launch of EV Lucian — Saint Lucia’s Electric Vehicle Trade Expo and Car Show. The event is designed to ignite a national shift towards sustainable transportation by uniting the island’s public and private sectors in a dynamic showcase of cutting-edge green technology.

The EV Lucian Car Show and Trade Expo will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Caribbean Cinemas Car Park. Kurt Inglis, Chief Energy and Public Utilities Officer in the Department of Infrastructure, Ports, and Transport, emphasised the importance of this shift. He stated, “The shift to electric vehicles represents a bold but necessary move, one that can help reduce our dependence on imported fossil fuels, lower emissions, and contribute meaningfully to our climate goals.”

Patrons can expect to see the largest collection of electric and hybrid vehicles ever showcased in Saint Lucia. The event will also feature interactive displays on essential supporting services like:

  • Charging stations
  • Green energy solutions
  • Financing and insurance options to make EV ownership more accessible

The expo will also include interactive test drives, workshops, a Kids’ Zone, live entertainment, and local food to ensure a day of fun and engagement for entire families.

Agnes Francis, managing director of Accela Marketing, a title sponsor, reinforced that EV Lucian represents a cultural shift toward sustainable transportation in Saint Lucia, a project which her company has dedicated its expertise to on a pro-bono basis.

Republic Bank’s Gordon Julien, general manager for corporate services, a premium sponsor, cited their involvement upholds their commitment to environmental stewardship and community development. Beacon Insurance’s Joralia St. Louis, branch manager, addressed a traditional hurdle to new technology adoption. She confirmed that Beacon is “breaking that barrier down by giving customers the confidence to embrace this new era safely and securely” by providing purpose-built financing options for electric vehicles.

The event is presented by title sponsors, the Government of Saint Lucia and Accela Marketing, alongside premium sponsors Republic Bank and Beacon Insurance. Bronze sponsors include LUCELEC, JQ Motors, Bank of Saint Lucia, and Zenobia Pro Events, while Radio Caribbean, HTS/Radio 100, and MBC/Real FM have joined as media partners
