US jury finds man, 61, guilty of killing Saint Lucian man

A jury in Clinton County, New York, has found Timothy Timmons guilty of second-degree murder in the December 2024 killing of Jahfari Joseph, a Saint Lucian residing in Plattsburgh. The verdict was delivered on Thursday following a 10-day trial.

Joseph, 40, who had lived and worked in the Plattsburgh area, was reported missing on 29 December. The case became a high-profile matter when authorities charged Timmons, 61, shortly thereafter following a search of property connected to the investigation.

According to NBC5, jurors deliberated for less than an hour before returning a unanimous guilty verdict. Prosecutors presented a range of evidence, including witness statements, digital records, and phone call logs, to establish their case.

Following the verdict, NBC5 spoke to Joseph’s mother, Theresa John. In the interview she expressed relief at the outcome.

“I’m just happy as a mom that justice is served,” she said. “I don’t know what to say, but I really don’t. I’m just happy.”

Clinton County District Attorney Andrew Wiley confirmed that sentencing is scheduled for January 2026. Under New York law, second-degree murder carries a penalty ranging from 15 years to life, up to a maximum of 25 years to life in prison.
