The Final Round of the Concacaf Qualifiers to the 2026 FIFA World Cup continued with Suriname earning a 4-nil win over El Salvador in Group A on Thursday at Dr. Ir. Franklin Essed Stadion in Paramaribo, Suriname.

Suriname solidified its spot at the top of the group, improving to 2-3-0, as the nation moves closer to sealing the direct qualification for its first World Cup appearance.

Tjaronn Chery opened the scoring in the 44’, converting from the penalty spot after being dragged down in the box by El Salvador’s Julio Sibrián.

Suriname extended its lead in the 74’ as Richonell Margaret struck off a deflected clearance that bounced perfectly to him for the finish.

Margaret’s recorded his brace in just two minutes, scoring again in the 76’, off a cross from Ridgeciano Haps that set up a tap-in.

Suriname put the finishing touch on the victory when Dhoraso Klas knocked home a cross in the 83’, just a pair of minutes after subbing on into the game.

With the loss, El Salvador is eliminated from contention for the 2026 World Cup.
Suriname will visit Guatemala for its final game of Qualifying on Tuesday. El Salvador will play at Panama to conclude its campaign.
