While preparing for his own electoral contest at home, Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has publicly endorsed his Saint Lucian counterpart Philip J. Pierre and the Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) ahead of their December 1 general election.
“I want to express my solidarity to Prime Minister Philip Pierre and the Saint Lucia Labour Party, who is a sister party,” Gonsalves said in an interview with SVG TV.
Confident in securing another term for his Unity Labour Party, Gonsalves said he hopes to travel to Castries to stand alongside Pierre in the final stretch of the campaign.
“At the invitation of Philip Pierre, I will be in Saint Lucia at least for the final rally,” he said. “I have to be there with my Labour comrade.”
The endorsement highlights the strong political ties between the two leaders.
