The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) has laid charges against a Castries man after seizing a significant quantity of illegal drugs during a targeted operation in the north of the island. This, the RSLPF says, was part of a recent series of intensified drug-related crackdowns by law enforcement.
According to police, the operation took place on October 30 when officers from the Gangs, Narcotics, and Firearms Unit along with the Customs and Excise Department, intercepted a suspicious package at a popular courier company. The parcel, which allegedly came from the United States, was found to contain more than one kilogramme of cannabis resin. The confiscated substance carries an estimated street value of $40 800.
Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of 25-year-old Kesner Henry of Carellie, Castries. On November 18, Henry was formally charged with importation of a controlled drug and importation of a controlled drug with intent to supply.
The RSLPF noted that inquiries into the matter remain ongoing, and emphasised this seizure forms part of a broader push to disrupt the flow of illegal narcotics into the country.
