Police have charged 52-year-old Angelica Hippolyte of Marisule, Gros Islet, after a package she attempted to ship overseas was found to contain liquid cocaine. The discovery was made during an operation led by the Gangs, Narcotics and Firearms Unit, according to law enforcement officials.
Police say the investigation began on Thursday, December 4, when a woman presented a package at the FedEx facility in Vide Bouteille for international shipment. The parcel was declared as party supplies and was destined for Australia. Customs officers later conducted a routine inspection of the package, during which a field test confirmed the presence of liquid cocaine.
Following the test results, the Gangs, Narcotics and Firearms Unit launched an inquiry that led them to Hippolyte. She was arrested on Monday, December 8, during a coordinated police operation and subsequently charged with two offences: attempting to export liquid cocaine and possession of cocaine.
Hippolyte appeared before the court the same day and was granted bail of EC$25,000, either in cash or suitable surety. The matter has been adjourned to March 12, 2026.
Police say investigations are ongoing.
