Two arrested as police recover narcotics and gun

Saint Lucia police carried out two operations last weekend that led to the recovery of suspected narcotics, a firearm, and the arrest of two people.

According to a police statement, one operation was carried out early on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Aux Lyon, Dennery, by officers attached to the Gang, Narcotics, and Firearms Unit. The coordinated effort involved the execution of search warrants at two residential properties.

During one of the searches, officers discovered substances suspected to be cannabis resin and cocaine. As a result, 31-year-old Tyler Pierre, a resident of the premises, was arrested.

On Tuesday, January 6, 2026, Pierre was formally charged with two counts of possession of controlled drugs and two counts of possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply. She appeared before the First District Court the same day and was granted bail totalling $49,000 or suitable surety. She was ordered not to have contact with witnesses and to adhere to conditions set by the court.

In the other operation, 20-year-old Jaiden Zane Paul of Goodlands, Castries, was arrested on Saturday, January 3, 2026, in Castries. Officers recovered a pistol and 13 rounds of ammunition from a pouch in his possession during a search. Paul was subsequently charged with possession of a firearm without a valid licence and possession of ammunition.

He appeared on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, before a First District Court magistrate, who set bail at $35,000, payable in cash or suitable surety.

The police force reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing efforts aimed at reducing illegal drug and firearm activity across the island, urging citizens to continue cooperating with law enforcement in maintaining public safety.
