Wayne Auguste has been returned for a second term at the helm of local cricket, following the biennial general meeting of the Saint Lucia National Cricket Association on Saturday, January 10.
The new executive, however, includes two changes from the last leadership group.
Auguste, a strategy and financial consultant and entrepreneur, first took office in 2023, previously having served as president of the Central Castries Cricket Association. Also re-elected unopposed were second vice president Nerville Florence, secretary Lucy Goodman, treasurer Celestin Laurent, and principal secretary Jacqueline Inglis.
Coming in as first vice president for the new biennium is Christopher Peters, who replaces John Estephane, the new member of parliament for Babonneau and Minister in the Ministry of Tourism. Former West Indies women’s captain Eugena Gregg replaces Roseline Preville as third vice president with responsibility for women’s cricket.
“The SLNCA wishes to thank all members and affiliates who participated in the nominations process, demonstrating their continued commitment to the progress and governance of cricket in Saint Lucia,” read a release from the organisation. “The association highly values the spirit of unity and volunteerism that characterises our cricket community.”
The BGM, held at the Odan Human Resource Development Centre, included the presentation of reports and ratification of nominations.
The year ahead for domestic cricket includes the Sandals Under-19 Boys’ Tournament, an Under-13 Training Programme, the Prime Minister’s Independence Cup, the Five For Fun Festival, the Saint Lucia Premier League, U13 and U10 tournaments, women’s national team trials, and the return of the Alicia John T20 Women’s Tournament and Acynta Auguste 50-Over Women’s Tournament.
On the eve of the new season, the association presented 32 red-ball uniforms and 32 white-ball uniforms to the Cricket Umpires Association.
