Body of young male found in shallow grave in Vieux Fort

Police are investigating the discovery of a young man’s body found buried in a shallow grave in Bruceville, Vieux Fort, on January 25.

According to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, the discovery was made during a coordinated operation carried out around 7:00 a.m.

The operation involved officers from several units, including the Major Crimes Unit, Tactical Response Unit, Central Intelligence Unit, Special Services Unit from both the north and south, as well as the Gangs, Narcotics, and Firearms Unit South.

About 30 minutes into the search, officers located the body of a young male buried near the shoreline. A medical practitioner was summoned to the scene and pronounced the individual dead.

Police said the deceased has not yet been identified and is being treated as a “John Doe” pending further investigations and formal identification.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled for January 27, 2026, to determine the cause of death.

Authorities are urging anyone with information that may assist the investigation to contact the nearest police station.
