Amid the mounting death toll, the hunt for survivors continued in freezing weather, with rescue crews pulling bodies from the rubble of thousands of buildings that have toppled throughout southern Turkey and northern Syria.
It was the deadliest seismic event in the world in over a decade.
The quake impacted an estimated 13.5 million people in Turkey and millions more in Syria.
As the rescue effort continues, there is growing public anger that the rescue response has been slow.
