Opposition leader Allen Chastanet has accused the Philip J. Pierre administration of worsening Saint Lucia’s unemployment by bringing major projects to a halt.
“As a result of stopping all the major projects, this government has increased the level of unemployment especially among the young men in our country,” Chastanet asserted in a video recording on Facebook.
“People who worked under the St. Jude project and the Hewanorra International Airport project and even the many road reconstruction projects have found themselves on the bread line,” the former Prime Minister stated.
According to the United Workers Party (UWP) leader, it is now almost impossible for those individuals to feed their families, send their children to school or pay water and electricity bills.
“Does the Prime Minister really understand that these decisions also affect the truck operators and heavy equipment owners?” Chastanet said.
“Many of them are small independent owners and are not big companies,” he observed.
In addition, Chastanet questioned whether the Prime Minister understands that the revenues supplemented household incomes.
“I ask you again, is he putting you first?” He said.

Mr. Chastanet, please don’t talk, every time you open your mouth you contradict yourself. Do you remember the Soufriere square, the administrative building in Vieux Fort? Didn’t you stop them? What about the solar system in Dennery? Mr. Chas, please don’t talk the nation is laughing at you.
Is this a joke?? When you have nothing to do but to plot to undermine this government along with your paid cronies. What happened to the Soufriere Water Front Project when you stole power ?? What happened to the VF Municipal Building when you stole power ?? Oh Lord St Jude’s, St Jude’s, St Jude’s. What happened to be the Fishing complex when you stole power?? The meat processing plant?? Virgin ?? The tourism Conseairs up in Soufriere ?? Go and find something else to do to keep your relevancy
Politicians needs to stop playing games whenever they get into power .
