On Saturday, August 5, 2023, at about 4:30 pm, Police Officers attached to the Micoud Police Station received a report of a physical altercation between two male individuals, at Mon Repos, Micoud.
The Police Officers proceeded to the scene of the incident and were met by personnel from the Saint Lucia Fire Service, who were attending to one of the individuals, who sustained an injury during the altercation.
The victim was identified as seventy-four (74) year-old Peter Joseph of Mon Repos, Micoud.
Peter Joseph was conveyed to the St. Jude Hospital via the ambulance service, where he remained in the care of the medical personnel at the institution.
On Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at about 8:53 pm, Police Officers attached to the Micoud Police Station were informed by medical personnel from the St. Jude Hospital that Peter Joseph had succumbed to his injuries, whilst in care.
This matter is now being treated as a homicide.
One (1) male individual has been assisting the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force with this investigation.

It’s sad how one brother could have been so impatient with the other, how he could have completely ignored the older brother’s medical condition and treated him in the inhumane way he did. Worst yet is the fact he that the persons from the community who were present when the incident took place and did nothing to stop it, are now discouraging persons from talking to the police. Really really sad how the lives of two brothers could have been so permanently affected and altered in a split second.
We as a society need to be more tolerant, a lot more tolerant and patient with each other. Stanfill didn’t deserve to die like this. My condolences to the Stephen family.
