LUCELEC Responds To Marchand Electrical Incident

A member of the general public is recovering under medical supervision following an incident that occurred on Friday, January 26, 2024 in the Marchand community.

The St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) received a call at approximately 7:23 a.m. indicating that an individual appears to have sustained an electric shock near a utility pole.

A section of the electricity system was isolated at 8.48 a.m. in order to allow LUCELEC’s technical personnel to investigate the incident.

This resulted in a service interruption to customers in Bagatelle, Bishops Gap, Arundel Hill and Marchand. Service was subsequently restored to all areas at 11:02 a.m.

LUCELEC would like to recognize the quick action of the members of the community on site and thanks the Saint Lucia Fire Service for its quick response in attending to the injured individual.

LUCELEC apologises to its customers for the inconvenience caused by the service interruption.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

  1. So LUCELEC apologizing to the public for the interruption of their electricity supply but not to the individual who got shocked on their pole….Okay, got it!

  2. I mean they could’ve made a statement after they found the cause which would serve as a warning in the future.

  3. My goodness, is this how insensitive and unsympathetic lucelec has become? An incident where someone got electrocuted and could of lost their life because of your electrical system-whether you’re at fault or not; couldn’t you at least wish the man a full and speedy recovery in your statement?
Time to change your logo from THE POWER OF CARING to THE POWER OF MONEY….SMH

  4. Boss I hope you find yourself a good lawyer AND DONT ACCEPT ANY COMPENSATION OF Which they will quick to offer go to court MAkE JURY DECIDE for you they are too Lapo and indiscreet. This could have cost you your life……I hope you lay down in the ambulance and bawl all day……yes doc it still hurt. Trust me pal they will try and railroad you based on their school of thought because of your last name and demographics……:it should have been Highgrade they would have known quickly what time it is I don’t pre pay Queens Council for nothing, they all think Lucian’s that are from certain demographics are stupid……yeah dream on.

  5. Lucelec has change big time. Some contractors had finished working in my area and I ask them what time we getting current. They told me They waiting for a supervisor to come from lunch to do that. All the time we there suffering without current. So lucelec new management aint give a damn about their customers except paying our bills.

  6. This man need to get a good outside lawyer as he should not trust any st Lucian lawyer and file a lawsuit for over 100 million dollars…

  7. The guy should sue Lucelc for a large sum of money. What if this happens to our children. I think this incident a wake up call to ensure the polls are upgraded in the entire country.

  8. So, where is the update from LUCELEC that explains to the public exactly what really caused the near-fatal electrocution of a member of the public? We need to know!!! But maybe LUCELEC is too bog to be held accountable! Still, only in a corrupt society does the wealthy believe they do not owe full explanation to the public for their failures that harm the “little man”!
