Three Arrested For Serious Offences During Gros Islet J’Ouvert

On Saturday, August 3, 2024, about 5:00am., the Special Operations Team, in conjunction with the Gros-Islet Police Station conducted routine security operations during J’ouvert celebrations, which resulted in the recovery of a stolen weapon and the arrest of three males, in Gros-Islet.

As the festivities progressed, officers noticed a suspicious male, later identified as twenty-three-year-old (23) Gurshan James of Rose Hill, Castries and conducted a search of his person.

Officers discovered and seized a stolen pistol equipped with an auto-sear, along with a magazine and twenty-six (26) rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Gurshan James was subsequently charged with the offences of Handling Stolen Goods, Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.  He applied to the Magistrate’s court for bail but was remanded to the Bordelais Correctional Facility.

Officers also recorded an additional success having apprehended a defendant, for whom a Commitment Warrant had been issued following his failure to comply with a court order.

This defendant has been identified as twenty-eight-year-old (28) Stephenson Charles of Monchy, Gros-Islet.

In the year 2022, Stephenson Charles was convicted for Possession of Firearm, and he was fined thirty-thousand dollars (XCD30,000.00ec) by the court.

Following his arrest, he was escorted to the Bordelais Correctional Facility where he will complete a custodial sentence for his non-compliance.

The third arrest stemmed from ongoing investigations into a report of Grievous Harm being investigated by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Castries.

Officers apprehended and subsequently charged twenty-six-year-old (26) Jamal Paul alias Brace of Ciceron, Castries with the offence of Grievous Harm.

It is also important to note that at the time of his arrest, he was on bail for a previous offence of Grievous Harm, awaiting the results of the trial against him.

Consequently, his bail application was denied, and he was remanded at the Bordelais Correctional Facility.

  1. Grievous Harm 1 and Grievous Harm 2 ..yet he is roaming the streets. I hate to say this but it is embarrassing to read about the criminal element in St. Lucia’s society and the law which allows them to roam the street to regroup and commit more crimes.

Why are these good for nothings allowed bail to then go out and harm those who are trying to live in peace. A 13 year was murdered in his sleep…you mean with all the Lucians who specialize in vayaaa zaffaire moom none of them saw anything .. yea right
??? You guys are 238 square miles ..make that make sense.

    Wow wow wow
