A second-generation Saint Lucian citizen is hoping to follow in her father’s footsteps, and represent the nation in sports. But first, she’s off to college.
Khalia-Leigh James is an outstanding young volleyball player, entering her senior year at high school in the United States. And she is already preparing for the next stage of her journey.
Khalia-Leigh is taking her talents to Middle Tennessee State University in 2025, after being heavily recruited in her junior year. This September, the 6’2” middle blocker will play her final season at Massillon Jackson High School in Ohio, where she is playing one year up.
Aged 16, she plays with the 17-year-olds, and is also a lynchpin for her club, Infinity 17’s, one of the top club teams nationwide.
Infinity 17’s is a powerhouse, currently ranked 2nd in the Ohio Valley Region (OVR) and 34th nationally. With players like James, they are set to make a strong showing on the national stage.
Her remarkable journey from a novice to a key player in one of the best club teams in the country is a testament to her talent and dedication. As she steps into her final high school year, the Polar Bears are poised for an exciting season with James leading the charge.
James is the daughter of Khali James, who played basketball for Saint Lucia in the nineties. His older son was a collegiate athlete as well.
The exciting young talent will be bringing her cerulean blue flag on campus with her as an international student, and she hopes one day to be able to put on a Saint Lucia jersey.
