A man in Choiseul became Saint Lucia’s latest homicide victim after he pursued a robber and sustained fatal gunshot injuries.
At about 8:20 pm on Thursday, Choiseul Police Station officers responded to a report of a robbery and homicide at Mongouge, Choiseul.
The officers learned that a man with a gun had accosted the owner of a business place and tried to grab a bag containing the proceeds of the day’s sale from her.
According to the information, there was a struggle and the woman began screaming for help.
However, the bandit was able to take possession of the bag with the cash and ran away.
A man from the community, who had witnessed what transpired, went in pursuit of the robber when residents heard four gunshots and later found the pursuer lying in the middle of the road.
He had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
Police have identified the deceased as Bernard Joseph and are continuing their investigation into the homicide.

I knew Bernard and he worked as security at Hotel Chocolat. He is one a kind; a good, good person. At what point do we declare this mess to be terror? Isn’t the shop owner terrorized? Where are their rights? These are fundamental questions that must be answered. Where is their human rights representative? As usual, she is nowhere to be seen or heard. I forgot in her world only White people suffer terror. The right to life is for a selected few. Who represents our local innocent victims?
Where is Pierre (security guru extraordinaire)? This man is mum about the violence. He is tinkering with something he knows nothing about. I for one am tired with his ruthless bumbling. After three years, he only has an increasing death toll to show. He will never turn the corner until he puts deterrence in place. That joker keeps recycling gunmen through his bail bs. What a sh*t show!
Everyone is shouting,”stop the violence,stop the killings.” Yet persons in the communities know who hv guns and ammunition and it looks like ppl are turning a blind eye until it reaches home!!
I shout to enforce capital punishment, ppl are not taking the police and law seriously after all once you hv money, u get bail or a slap on the wrist to go out there and do more!! When the hell would this stop, when they start killing “prominent members of society” because until the “big boys” are affected, nothing will happen? Are they saying “let them kill the dogs,let them kill each other?”
It’s crazy that crime can’t be controlled in a little country like ours?
Parents,family members,the communities at large, St.Lucia at large… Stand up! Stand up! Too many lives are being lost, too much hurt and pain! Stand up and demand that we all make a darn difference to this ridiculous violence!!!
wow. so sad. Sometimes one just cant be a hero and loose his life. Thats why maybe the owner gave up on the bag and it spared her life too. In this modern day age we cant let our gaurds down and we must know theres always someone watching you at your business place. So we have to be alert always of our surroundings, home, public place, just about anywhere, cause things happen here all the time. Im pretty sure its someone in the area that been watching that place and have seen the closing operations to make their move.
What a sad suitation, condoléances to the familles..
Remain Silent !
When we pray, God listens and answer us through his Salvation !
Vengeance belongs to you O LORD !
Surmon your power,O God,let him see his own destruction,may the blood of innocent falls on his head !!
More and more brazen. Only when it starts hitting those at the top will it change. Give it time.
So it was in the begining,and so shall it be in the end..
The word of God : John :10v10..
The chief comes to steal and kill and destroy !
A golden tip !
When we see danger, take refuge, but do not keep going and sufer for it !!!!
Back in the days ppl use to say if you come from chousiel and dem places you weren’t too bright but brother the story did say the robber approach the woman with a gun!…why in the hell would you persue him?. …did the decease have his gun too?…and to the lady,when ever a robber approach with weapon demanding whatever plz don’t hesitate for life is the greatest thing and not the day,month or year proceeds,no money is worth a life……bet she’s recalibrating…..I certainly do not condone anyone robbing another.
St. Lucia is infected with pure corruption and violence. There are no safe areas on the island, lawlessness has become like that of the early Wild West with gun play at the slightest provocation.
Sorry for Brother Bernard. My condolences go to his family. There is a lesson for everyone. Do not pursue the criminal. The stolen items can be replaced. It is not worth loosing your life over this. Don’t try to be a hero. Let the police do the work.
GODLESSNESS = LAWLESSNESS:
We are now in the ‘End Times’ / when the promise of the LORD is fulfilled and HE appears, shall HE find Righteousness in the land of St. Lucia?
Why is there brother against brother, father against son [ vagrants steal, kill & destroy ] shall He take up only the ‘called’ and say to the others “I do not know you” the solution is only in CHRIST.
Sometimes the same lady that set it up let him go with bag think ppl think … women do most set ups in a lucia they hungry
It is impossible for man to live without the word of God,or without God and without Jesus Christ in this world of evils 😈, which means,belongs to the night or to the darkness..
THESSALONIANS is saying :
While people are Saying, “Peace and Safety,” destruction will come on them suddenely as labor pains on a pregnante woman,and will not escape..
God did not appoint us to suffer wrath, but to receive Salvation through Jesus Christ..
If we really want to live,we must Stand Firm by putting on faith and love ❤️ as a breastplate, the hope of Salvation as a helmet, the Sword of the Sprit, which is the word of God,Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckle around our waist..
THIS IS A PARODY, A JOKE. PLEASE DON’T TAKE THIS👇 SERIOUS
OH NO….the world is coming to an end🫠🫠…the end of days are here and it was written in a fictitious book by illiterate, superstitious and ignorant sheep and goat herders roaming the desert dust of the middle east during the iron age, when the vast majority of the population was equally backward and ignorant , men who heard a voice in their heads telling them to sacrifice animals to the sky god or face the wrath of a jealous god…and all this signs now showing in Saint Lucia that the end is truly here…( Although the delusional has been saying the same thing for more than a thousand years now, yet we are still here…🤔). These are the signs we are waiting for, the sky god is on his way back so let’s get ready to meet the him in the great rapture..but apparently the sky god walked with the sheep and goat herders in the desert more than or approximately 3000 years (give or take) he, ( the sky god) spoke to them literally, showed them signs like burning bush, pillar of fire etc etc…even on one occasion asked a so called Abraham to sacrifice his son Issac to him ( the sky god) to see if Abraham would obey sacrifice his son….but does not the sky god knows everything? Why would he make such a request if he already knows the mind of men and what they think? …in any case the sky god asked his chosen ones to commit all kinds of atrocities in his name like pillage, steal, murder, plunder, ( its all written in that fictitious book if you want proof). The list of ridiculousness is beyond words….
PLEASE DO TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY 👇
On another note. It’s really alarming that society has or appears to be numb to all this terrible acts. That is what you call desensitisation when people don’t care anymore, when governments through their hands up in the air and leave society to its own devices, when parents abandon their duties of parenting, when schools fail to improve the intellectual ability of it’s students, when society becomes apoplectic with it’s very own self…and the list of issues continues to create a society where people just don’t care anymore. Sad that our young men are dying uselessly. I am lost for words every time I read those headlines. May the family find consolation for the loss of their kin.
C-wiz, like you, other people are free to believe whatever they want to. The presidents invite pastors to the White House all the time for prayer breakfasts and to officiate at different events. If you were invited to one of these events, you would NEVER stand and express the views about Christianity that you spew out on this platform at every opportunity. Because it’s all a matter of RESPECT. People are free to believe whatever they want. You need to learn to respect other people’s beliefs.
@Seinfeld
And I am likewise free to express my opinions. No need for you to get itchy down below. It’s an open forum. Others are free to express contrary opinions and respect has nothing to do with it. There is nothing in my contribution that shows lack of respect. Why do you view my expression as anything else. You are absolutely free to express yourself but in doing so, don’t seek to restrain my freedom either. In fact I would welcome your critic of my opinion. That’s where progress is made: in the scrutiny of opinions…
@C-WIZ, I hate to have to say so, why should some one like me be giving advise to you? obviously you are a real read man but, some where and some time, something happened; you joined that secret Society, read their books but unlike all of the others, you decided to take up the Touch, preaching a different Gospel – the gospel of the Anti Christ. It is my duty to advise you, if you keep up with your denying of the GOD of Heaven, the Creator and HIS Son, the Redeemer who came, dying on the Cross shedding His BLOOD, that we who truly believe are saved; and repenting asking for forgiveness of our sins (our transgressions) are the saved – and you a soldier of the Anti-Christ better reverse your thinking and your beliefs and seek His Salvation before its too late.
@C-wiz. you are quite aware that calling people ignorant and backward is disrespectful. You are free to be an atheist whereas others are free to be Christians, Muslims etc. Try going to UAE or some other country in the Middle East and trash talk the people’s qu’ran. Furthermore I am not going to engage you by critiquing your opinion. I will not change your views and neither will you change mine. So let’s just practice RESPECT. Thank you.
@The Fox
There’s is not much to say other than You are so wrong on every level ( every single one ) to presume such in your statement about me, secret society, magic blood, anti christ. But if that is what you believe, well it is your right to believe and even express it. And yet, it’s equally my right to express my world view.
@Seinfeld
You fail to realise I called no one living today ignorant and backward. You make the classic mistake to presume what I have not inferred. I called people who claimed to have been inspired by some sky god 3000 years ago ( give or take) to write some fictitious book ignorance, backward and superstitious ( you seem to have forgotten that one ). You can extrapolate it how ever you want but I never called anyone in this modern age ignorant and backward. The right to an opinion does not negate the right to given an opinion that is contrary to that if the masses. It’s quite evident that some can’t take opinions which highlights their particular world view. Well I am quite open to getting my world view challenged. You keep taking about going to the east, well no doubt it’s a culturally rich part of the world but my freedom of expression is guaranteed by Western values. It is those freedoms we all enjoy. You exercise yours, I exercise mine. Lastly, it was rhetorical when I said I would welcome your critic of my opinion. All I am saying is I take no offence at OTHERS taking apart my opinions IF THEY SO CHOOSE. It’s an open forum.

My condolences to the family and friends of BERNARD JOSEPH.
I would like to suggest that the Choiseul District nominate this man for a national award, that he be awarded posthumously for his selfless act -for being a good samaritan.
May he rest in peace.
