    St. Lucia Times is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented Social Media & Website Coordinator to join its newsroom team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and growing the organisation’s social media presence, creating compelling content, strategising campaigns, optimising website content for SEO, analysing performance metrics, and driving engagement across digital platforms.

    The Role

    • Manage and maintain assigned social media accounts for the company (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.).
    • Make daily and scheduled posts, ensuring content is written and presented in the right format and tone for each social media channel and its audience.
    • Provide ‘live’ social media coverage for events, capturing and sharing key messages and moments.
    • Create engaging and visually appealing content, including graphics, videos, and written posts.
    • Upload articles to the company website, ensuring they are properly formatted and visually appealing.
    • Optimise website content for search engines by implementing SEO best practices, including keyword research, meta descriptions, and internal linking.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related degree or equivalent years of work-related experience.
    • Demonstrated ability to operate cameras and edit footage, showcasing excellent photography and editing skills.
    • Strong news judgment and ability to write and edit quickly while maintaining high standards.
    • Knowledge of social media and digital media trends and emerging platforms.
    • Knowledge of SEO, analytics, and best practices for web and social media.
    • Proficiency in metrics-based decision-making with an emphasis on reading and interpreting data.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
    • Ability to multitask, balance priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
    • Basic proficiency in designing graphics for social media platforms using tools like Canva.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external teams and manage individual tasks effectively, adhering to provided briefs.
