The search for a missing American tourist ended tragically on Tuesday when authorities discovered a lifeless body in Rodney Bay, with no immediate signs of foul play.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force had been searching for 35-year-old Travis Wyant of Grayson, Georgia, who was vacationing on the island and scheduled to depart Monday, July 7.
Concern arose when his family lost contact with him Sunday evening, and he failed to board his return flight. A missing persons alert circulated on social media Monday as investigators intensified their efforts.
Around 11 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to reports of a body floating near Rodney Bay’s shoreline. The victim’s description matched that of the missing tourist, according to Northern Division Superintendent Stephen Severin.
“The police received a report last evening of an individual, an American citizen who had been holidaying at a hotel in the north of the island,” Severin said Tuesday.
“The Gros Islet police immediately commenced an investigation into the matter and interacted with the family of the national and also the US embassy.”
Initial assessments revealed no visible injuries, though a postmortem examination will determine the exact cause of death. Authorities have pledged a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Wyant’s death.

This who story seems very very strange – if there are no immediate signs of fool play by those who made the discovery of the body. That certainly does not mean anything unless a comprehensive autopsy as well as toxicology report by a honest professionally is conducted asap.
