Queen Emerle champions youth, mental health, sustainable tourism

As Saint Lucia Carnival reaches its final days, newly crowned Carnival Queen Emerle Tisson is not just a symbol of beauty, but a strong voice for young people.

Representing the community of Choiseul, Tisson captured the crown with poise, confidence and a clear vision for her reign. From the moment she stepped into the spotlight, it was evident that Imran her Nerdy platform extended far beyond pageantry.

“As the National Carnival Queen, I see this platform as a powerful opportunity to connect with youth across Saint Lucia,” she told St Lucia Times, emphasising her intent to reach young people through mentorship, school visits and cultural initiatives that build self-worth and pride.

Tisson’s win also comes with a life-changing prize: a full undergraduate degree scholarship. Grateful for the opportunity, she plans to pursue studies in tourism and hospitality management. She envisions a future where sustainable tourism uplifts communities.

“I want to be part of shaping a Saint Lucia where talent meets opportunity,” she said, highlighting her long-term goal to empower young people in the tourism sector through training and entrepreneurship.

Her coronation night was an emotional one. “Every sleepless night, every setback every ounce of effort just came flooding back,” she recalled. “When I finally hear my name being called as queen, I felt overwhelmed with gratitude.

Central to her platform is mental health awareness, an issue she holds close to her heart. Tisson is determined to create spaces where youth feel supported and safe to speak up.

“Everyone’s story matters,” she said. “And through this reign, I want to be a voice that says, ‘You are enough, and your time will come’.”

Looking beyond the crown, Tisson has already set her eyes on a legacy of service and authenticity.

“I hope to leave a legacy of service, inspiration and authenticity,” she shared. “This crown may pass on, but my purpose won’t.”
