Castries Cruise Terminal named Caribbean’s best, SLASPA wins prestigious award

The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA), in partnership with Saint Lucia Cruise Port (SLCP), has earned a major regional distinction, winning the Caribbean Shipping Association’s (CSA) Nathan Dundas Cruise Port of the Year Award for 2024.

This award recognises the Castries Cruise Terminal for its exceptional operational growth, innovation, and commitment to sustainability, solidifying its status as one of the region’s top cruise destinations. The honour was presented at the CSA’s 55th Annual General Meeting, Conference and Exhibition in Paramaribo, Suriname.

The award is named after the late CSA Vice President Nathan Dundas, and is given to a Caribbean port demonstrating excellence in areas such as cruise operations, efficiency, innovation, and sustainable development.

The 2024 cruise year was a period of significant expansion for Saint Lucia. Key statistics highlighting the port’s success include:

  • Port Castries welcomed 333 cruise ship calls in the 2024 calendar year, an increase from 264 the previous year.
  • Passenger arrivals soared to over 721 000
  • Off-season activity between May and October saw almost 75 000 passengers, more than six times the previous year’s figures

SLASPA’s General Manager and Chief Executive Officer, Daren Cenac, accepted the award, calling the recognition a milestone for the authority and the people of Saint Lucia.
