Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre has travelled to Washington, D.C., where he is scheduled to deliver the welcome address at the United States-Caribbean Dialogue on October 15 in his capacity as Chair of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
The meeting will bring Caribbean leaders together with US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau to discuss energy security, economic growth, commercial diplomacy, defence coordination and disaster response.
According to a statement by the Prime Minister’s Press Secretary, the discussions will cover issues affecting people in Saint Lucia and across the region, including the cost and reliability of energy, investment and job opportunities, efforts to combat illegal firearm trafficking, and preparedness for hurricanes and other disasters.
The dialogue is expected to provide an opportunity for CARICOM and the United States to advance cooperation in areas of shared interest, with a focus on practical support, investment and sustained engagement.
