Saint Lucia basketball unveils teams for 2026 AmeriCup 3×3

Saint Lucia will contest the 2026 FIBA 3×3 AmeriCup in San Salvador, following the official team unveiling on Thursday. For the first time, the nation will field a women’s team in this competition.  The men have been involved in all five prior editions of the AmeriCup tournament.

The Saint Lucia Basketball Federation presented the two four-member squads at the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports under the campaign banner “Two Teams. One Nation. One Mission. Saint Lucia to the World!”

The men’s selection relies on continuity. Brothers Andre and Troy Louison line up alongside Shamoir Jn Baptiste and Marcian Calderon. All four are established names in the national setup. The men begin in Qualifying Draw C, where they face Trinidad & Tobago, Honduras, and the Cayman Islands. Winning that qualifying pool would earn a spot in the main draw against Canada and Mexico.

History will be made on the women’s side, with Saint Lucia fielding an entry in the continental tournament for the first time. The inaugural lineup features Laurah John, Janeve James, Keri-Anne Lewis, and Kaliyah Stevens. Though they will debut in this tournament, James, Lewis and Stevens have worn national colours at various age-group competitions over the years.

Placed in Qualifying Draw B, the Saint Lucian women take on the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and Guatemala. The group winners will move forward to face Chile and Mexico in the preliminary pool stage.

One notable absentee from the women’s roster is Dasha Eugene. Eugene was in line for selection but remains on national duty in Barbados with the senior netball team for the World Championship Qualifiers. On Wednesday, Eugene was named the most outstanding player after leading the Piton Sparks to victory over the British Virgin Islands.

The FIBA 3×3 AmeriCup runs from October 28 to November 1 at the Plaza Merliot in San Salvador, with all six of Saint Lucia’s men’s and women’s qualifying matches scheduled for October 29.
