Methodist Minister Urges Forgiveness For Doctor Ubaldus Raymond

Superintendent Minister of the Methodist Church in Saint Lucia, Seth Ampadu, has urged Saint Lucians to forgive Public Service Minister, Doctor Ubaldus Raymond.

Raymond has been at the centre of a scandal involving leaked audio recordings of at times salacious conversations with a female.

The Minister has since proceeded on leave while an investigation has been launched into the matter, a recent government statement said.

Raymond appeared on national television last week and spoke publicly for the first time since the scandal broke.

Methodist Minister, Seth Ampadu, told reporters that the parts of the television appearance that he watched showed a man who was sorry for what he had done.

“I think as a nation we need to forgive him because we all make mistakes,” Ampadu said.

“Once he has been able to come out, it shows that he feels sorry for what he has done, so as a people we need to accept him and forgive him,” the Clergyman asserted.

But at the same time Ampadu declared that Raymond should try to draw boundaries around his life.

“If you are a leader you need always to be very careful, extra careful in order not to make way for people to tarnish your image,” Ampadu told reporters.

“I want to appeal to the entire nation to forgive him,” he said.

Ampadu expressed the view that if another similar situation confronts Raymond, he will ‘run away from it.’

It’s not the first time that Raymond has been linked to scandal.

In 2017 nude photos, purportedly of him, went viral on social media.

Raymond filed a complaint to the local police that he was the victim of attempted blackmail.

He later said that he had forgiven the two apologetic young women involved in the nude photo blackmail scandal and that the case against them had been resolved.

  1. Bible in a Year
    April 29
New Testament Verse of the Day:
Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?
    –Romans 2:4

  2. Mr.seth, I believe you should stay out of the politics, it’s pleucid that you are backing a party and not preaching Christianity.Ubaldus, violated two of our school children, thereafter,he referred to them as criminals.Would he like someone to treat his daughter in that manner. He has no forgiveness for his ownself, yet you’re asking for forgiveness for him, think again.I have listened to you countless times and you’re sound bias and are taking sides, you should stop what you’re doing, because it’s too clear. If you are a true Christian God, doesn’t like it.

  3. Hey Seth, do you really know what it means when it says seperation from church and state? Bro just go preach your water down religion like Joel Osteen, it’s men like you who encourage nasty behavior in men who claimed to know better but chose to live dirty lives.
We are fed up, so if we’re not condoning bad behavior like you Seth, deal with it.

  4. The people don’t have such authority.. Only God can forgive.. A Minister should know these things…One the reasons I cant find a good God-serving church to attend….

  5. Why is the news and you all dealing with unimportant things?
If this really such a significant topic we have to discuss every day?

  6. Again don’t make it so obvious minister. Forgiveness for Mr. Ubaldus(Flambeau) and condemnation for Mr. Anthony (Labour). As a religious leader was are so to be clueless about with is your preferred political party. What is Robert Rivas political party… i honestly can tell you but in your case everyone knows.

  7. When we commit sin, we go to confession and are forgiven but we have to do our penance.
So should the case be with Mr. Raymond.
Yes we should forgive him but his penance is he should not be allowed to hold any ministerial office in the land. He has shown that he is not fit for ministerial office ….and the country must be spared any further pisdible embarrassment!

  8. When we go to confession, we are forgiven for our sins but we must do our penance.

Yes we should forgive Mr.Raymond but he too, has to do his penance. And as far as we are concerned, his penance is that he should be removed from the Cabinet and not be allowed to hold ministerial office anymore.

Mr. Raymond has shown that he is not fit for ministerial office and the country should be spared any further embarrassment by his poor judgement and indiscretions

  9. Yes, Mr Methodist preacher, we must forgive however, he (Ubaldus) must face up to the repercussions of his deeds or misdeeds. Do you remember David? He stole the man’s wife, got her pregnant and tried to hide the pregnancy by commanding the husband to go sleep with her. The husband did not accede to the command to which David sent the man to his death. Do you remember Mr. Methodist preacher man? Well, God forgave David however David and his household (for generations) had to face the repercussions of his deeds.

    Ubaldus MUST resign!

    • agreed! we forgive you..however you must go..think of the nation and setting and example and not yourself. Dont be selfish or arrogant

  10. The crow you are correct regarding David

…ultimately if a person is sincerely sorry and repent and turn from their wicked ways they can be forgiven. You can not continue and think that the Lord can be mocked..he can not. However rest assured he will reaped what he has sowned…it’s imminent. You can not continue living your life in this manner on a continuous basis and think that you will not be punished. In addition you are exposing your wife to diseases…you don’t know what others are doing…creating torment in your family and’s hurtful. As a female I feel for his wife…🙏🙏

Hebrews 13:4 makes it very clear
Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefined: but whoremongers and adulterers GOD will judge. Amen

  11. His personnel life is his. Where I have a problem with the minister is on Government oath of office to adhere to Government policy and secrets. The minister need to resign.

  12. The man is a man; leave him alone! AMPADOO, this is politics in Church, because this man is a politician!

  13. That african immigrant shud be deported back to Burkino Faso. Go to back to your impoverished uncivilised African country and preach your politics there….. see how long u wud last.

  14. While I do not rejoice over the Minister’s short-comings “I mean that in every sense of the word,” I am just wondering if the Pastor was watching the same show as everyone else. Forgiveness, in my opinion is wrought when a guilty party or someone whom we believe has wronged us has repented and asks for forgiveness. All I heard, was the Minister making excuses and blaming every body else as if whatever he did should be justified because in his own words he is marked man. Sir, your life is yours and whatever you do in your “half-hour” is your damn business, but when you come out and put the kibosh on others, blaming everyone but yourself……We have a big problem. If he stops playing the blame game and ask for forgiveness, he will get it. St. Lucians are a Forgiving People, we will forgive you seventy times seven!!! Remember the old adage, “Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.”

  15. We all have skeletons in our closet. So do n’t condemn. Rev. Ampadu you are a peace maker and true man. God’s blessings upon you

  16. Ubaldus needs help not forgiveness at this stage. He is a very sick man and until he gets the help that he needs, he cannot have any remorse for what he has done and he will continue his sick behaviour.

  17. That guy Ubaldus is a dog he shamed all his family treated his wife like a bitch.Do we have to forgive that pice of cow dunk? please minister stay in your kennel.
