Over 200 military and police officials will participate in the Regional Security System (RSS) Unity Exercise 2024 (UNEX 24) in Saint Lucia from April 3 to 13.

However, organisers have said there’s no cause for concern.

A promo on the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) Facebook page declared there should be no cause for alarm on seeing live ammunition and the heavy presence of forces during the annual exercise.

According to the promo, all activities will occur in a safe environment to strengthen the region’s defence against modern threats.

“This is not just an exercise; it is a testament to our preparedness,” the promo asserted.

The regional and international participants will engage in a diverse range of military exercises, including land-based maneuvers and sea operations.

UNEX 24 aims to improve mechanisms for regional cooperation within the RSS in response to security issues.

They include drug trafficking, terrorism, and other threats to border security.

The activities of the UNEX 24 will be spread across Castries, Gros Islet, and Vieux Fort.

The RSS described UNEX as the primary tool for testing the efficiency of coordinating resource deployments to support the organisation’s eight-member states.

UNEX is being implemented under the RSS 11th European Development Fund project in collaboration with the European Union and the Saint Lucia government.

  2. Simon Says:

This is the perfect opportunity to give UNNEX the practical exam to solve crime problem in Saint Lucia, especially on the Subject “Murders Comes to Helen”. The Regional group that solve 10 murders will pass and graduate with honors.
That will surely eliminate enrolling and paying RSS a huge sum of money which SLU cannot Offord.
