The Caribbean Island of Saint Lucia continues to inspire romance and wanderlust travel with five nominations in the twenty-ninth World Travels Awards Grand Final.

Often referred to as Helen of the West, Saint Lucia is the only sovereign nation in the world to be named after a woman. Her allure and natural beauty have earned the title of ‘World’s Leading Honeymoon Destination 13 times over, with the most recent honor presented in 2021.

No other island in the world is completely dedicated to couples in love. Only in Saint Lucia can couples share a room with awe-inspiring views of the Piton Mountains, a private plunge pool, an outdoor shower, and a hammock for two strung across the veranda.

Earlier this year, Saint Lucia won two awards during the Annual World Travel Awards Caribbean & The Americas 2022 awards ceremony held on August 31, 2022, at the Sandals Montego Bay.

Saint Lucia was crowned as the Caribbean’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination for the first time, in addition to reclaiming the title of Caribbean’s Leading Honeymoon Destination. The island’s outdoor adventure and romance options are endless, from world class dive sites to astonishing waterfalls, incredible nature trails, and therapeutic hot springs.

Each year World Travel Awards covers the globe with its Grand Tour – a series of regional gala ceremonies to recognize excellence within each continent, culminating in a Grand Final at the end of the year.

Saint Lucia has been nominated for five prestigious awards in the final edition of the twenty-ninth World Travels Awards.

  • World’s Leading Honeymoon Destination
  • World’s Leading Island Destination
  • World’s Leading Wedding Destination
  • World’s Most Romantic Destination
  • World’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination

World Travel Awards is a global initiative that recognizes and rewards excellence in travel and tourism. With five nominations in the 2022 Caribbean category, Saint Lucia is eager to add more accolades to her already prestigious list.

The international voting window for the Caribbean and North American regions is open until October 20th, 2022.

  1. All well and good for those Travel Awards and we have to give thanks to those Hotels that have striven hard to make it happen; however we must be careful, while we can boast of natural beauty, with our shorelands, our hills, the Pitons and walk-in Volcano and baths, yet you know and we know, the daily News of certain happenings (I rather not mention) can sink the whole damn thing. No doubt that Tourism is about the only Industry alive today, beautiful open air Fruit Markets with smiling faces, showing local make Handy Crafts etc. Above everything else let us give thank to the Lord above for a beautiful Island, and let’s keep it safe.

  2. Well for sure right now ( my opinion that is ) st Lucia’s natural beauty ,worlds only drive in volcano as mentioned only country in the world named after a woman , our friendly people our island can maket itself right now. Like you we know our proplem ill keep that one out.

  3. Healcare is also important. Our Student Nurses at SALCC need to be delivered from the administration in the department of nursing. We are part of the Healthcare future. Please assist.

  4. Well over 4 decades, every year you hearing tourist arrivals increasing but yet we have the most backward healthcare system and sports stadium hospital + fish ponds road to deal with, With the actual island improvement since independence, we only harness about 8-10 years of proper improvements the rest allow politicians to rape our pockets.

  5. So true! St Lucia might be “beautiful” to tourists who don’t see/don’t want to see the daily realities of everyday lives. Enclosed within some outrageously expensive resort, or inside their little tour buses, they only see the best side of this island. If all the effort that went into the tourism industry, could be replicated in the essential services for St Lucians, we would be living better lives. The other thing about the tourism industry is that foreign owned resorts do not greatly benefit our economy. Some “trickle down” effect, but not a lot. Awards might seem admirable, but the reality is the local people do not get much back. AND many of those resorts have taken our beaches too, even though they are supposed to be Public!
