Martinique law enforcement officials are investigating the death of two children aged 1 and 3 after their bodies were found in a hotel swimming pool at Rivière-Pilote on Wednesday.

The investigators took the children’s mother, who was staying at the hotel with three children, into custody.

They later transported her to the hospital for a medical assessment.

Local reports said the family had been at the hotel since December 17.

Several witnesses, including the hotel’s owner, have been questioned regarding the tragedy.

And RCI.FM reported that authorities are to question the family’s eldest child, a five-year-old, who might have witnessed what occurred.
