Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre says parents must remember to provide spiritual guidance to their children, in addition to the goal of ensuring the youngsters have a secure future.
“As parents, one of our goals is to ensure that our children have a secure and promising future ahead of them. We must also remember the importance of guiding them spiritually, as well as in all other aspects of life,” Pierre wrote Sunday on Facebook.
In this regard, the Castries East MP quoted Deuteronomy 6:6-7 from the Bible.
“Deuteronomy 6:6-7 says “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” This verse reminds us that we should be teaching our children about the Lord’s commandments daily and leading them in the right direction,” Pierre stated.
“Let’s work together to ensure that every child in this country, no matter where they live or what their background is, they can achieve success,” the Saint Lucia Prime Minister urged.

Not everyone believes in the bible Mr Prime Minister, so please do not promote your own beliefs and religion at a government level. This is so wrong for so many reasons.
Gawn Pierre NUFF RESPECT BOSS walking with youths in the garrison (priceless) a re-electible campaign reminder moment you are for the people and THEY WILL REMEMBER YOU CAME THERE. It’s not a shocker, you are a son of a soil and that’s what Lucians love about you, is the fact that you are approachable just like The Honorable KDA whenever he pulls up in his SUV most times with just his driver you are NOT A FOREIGNER like some. A poster moment worth printable Highgrade got this one
lol who doing that? before you speak about God there is always someone to oppose it. We glorify more devilish things and denounce Godly things in saint lucia. I remember there was this issue with a rude boy Billboard with a half naked woman on it where people said that it was inappropriate until the persons responsible for putting it up took it down and a radio announcer at chaud fm said that we as people are hypocrites and that if we can talk so much about a little billboard then we should ban carnival as well. The point here is when you talk about moral values or anything good/godly people always find a way to oppose and make you seem that you are the wrong one until it gets to a point no one wants to talk about it anymore and the evil things takes front seat. then when it gets out of hand they want to look for God in the ciaos.
A re-electible Kodak moment. I already pdf the ting and sent it to vista print I have graduations to attend to I will gladly pick it up myself
I don’t trust politicians that quote the bible. I was not in support of the national day of prayer by the former prime minister. There need to be a clear separation of church and state. Keep your spiritual beliefs private. The young people need parental support, community and supportive structures in schools to ensure student safety and success. In light of the recent increase in gun violence, it is easy to fall back on spirituality, but these problems are complicated and the whole machinery and resources of government need to be brought to bear in solving this societal decay. We need to equip our young people with resources and skills so that they can make better choices and less attracted to gangs, criminal activity and gun violence.
Same way KDA held us in neck and now that we are grown, PJP is doing the same to our kids. We need you to reduce on the number of Workless Households in VF. Our eyes are open now and the usual $40, Pampers and Gas Tanks ent cutting it. We need opportunities to further our education, Affordable Child Care so we can leave home and attend work, firm swift and fair Justice system so the vigilante justice will stop. Not photo moment.
Marketing 101
@Lucian Highgrade wanna be what the hell are you talking about “workless households in VF” it just amazed me of the likes of you who does not reside here has no family here or do any form of business here with the exception of boarding an aircraft has the most to say about our town and people. The most Honorable KDA made reference to this more than a week ago during the most recent violence break out the disenjenous verbal comments and attack on the town and it’s people. I am absolutely sure as the sun will rise tomorrow you were a participant in such fish mongering vulgarity on social media. I am sure there are just as many “workless households” in Micoud South of which your God feed the
multitude the scraps from his dinner table . What The Most Honorable PJP has done compared to his predecessors is to address the needs and concerns of his people with a personal persona of “I am here with you” this will surely go a long way to reelecting a people first people’s PM and not one for just a choosen few.
Angry shut up
I am neither Yellow or Red but I am a St. Lucian ..some of you have so much to learn. He said according to the article “spiritual guidance” …he never mentioned the Bible according to the article.
However, some of you are running away and misquoting the real meaning and intention of the statement.
The following is the meaning of spiritual——
relating to or affecting the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things.
That’s why most of you need to remain in St. Lucia …always attacking without understanding..
By the way, some of you do worship material and physical things and that’s the truth. Notwithstanding envy amd jealousy …
