March Of Solidarity & Peace Planned For Vieux Fort After Latest Gun Violence Spike

The Saint Lucia Catholic Church has announced plans for a solidarity and peace march in Vieux Fort on Sunday, April 16.

Archbishop Gabriel Malzaire disclosed that an assembly would occur at 4:00 pm in the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption for reflection and prayers.

“Following this will be a procession with the Blessed Sacrament through Commercial Street, unto Clarke Street, then turn right at the traffic lights to New Dock Road towards Bruceville. We intend to stop at intervals along the way, to offer special prayers for God’s guidance, deliverance, and protection,” Malzaire said.

He disclosed that the Clergy, Religious and faithful of the Catholic Community, members of other Christian denominations and the general citizenry of Saint Lucia, are all very perturbed by the escalation of violence in the country and more particularly in the town of Vieux Fort in recent time.

“This, no doubt is a cause of immeasurable pain to our entire country, but especially the immediate families, friends, and relatives of the victims of these crimes. Even harder to console would be the loved ones of those who were innocent victims,” Malzaire stated.

And he invited all Catholics, members of other Christian denominations, and all well-wishers to join in this march of Solidarity and Peace.

Between Saturday and Sunday four people, including a two-year-old boy, were shot dead in Vieux Fort amid a fresh spike in deadly gun violence in the community.

  1. when will yall stop handling these things the same way every time with no results. Remember that some things cant stop or happen with out prayer and fasting. Matthew 17:21

  2. WHY DONT THE POLICE SETTLE THIS WAR BEFOR YOU HAVE A PEACE MARCH, AND WHEN BULLETS START FLYING THEN YOU ALL BLAMING EVERY BODY BUT YOUR SELVES. DONT PROVOKE THE KILLERS.

  3. thats a good gesture but what good is that going to do or even has done? the criminals dont care about yall mashing up yall shoes

  4. WHEN THE POPO HAVE A STRATERGY OR A SHAKE DOWN THEY SHOULD KEEP QUIET, THEY LIKE TO ADVERTISE TOOO MUCH. THUGGS LOVE WATCHING THE NEWS TO SEE HOW THEY ARE SCARING PEOPLE , AND ALL THE MESS THEY CAUSING. MOVE IN ON THEM WHEN THEY SLEEPPING, YES THEY DO SLEEP 4:00 AM THEY ARE TIRED DOING EVIL THEY GO SEE THEIR WOMEN AND FALL ASLEEP. THATS WHEN YOU PARALIZE THEM.

  5. PUT THAT PRIEST INFRONT GIVE HIM A MIC. LET HIM PREACH SING AND CALL THEM OUT, SEE HOW LONG HE WILL LAST. WHEN NIGHT FALL THE KILLING WILL INCREASE, HE BETTER STAY AT HIS HOME.

  6. This island needs more prayer, kudos to the woman on street vibes , callin out the churches for keeping quiet since b4 independence! Every group this Sunday and daily should pray this Sunday bc St. Lucia, poor Helen is need of many more prayers period.

  7. Those marches are great for weight reduction. They change nothing. It’s like praying everyday in preparation a major exam, and not reading the textbook even once.
The sad reality is that the criminals will have to be defeated by force and the law. Another exercise in futility. Never a dull moment.

  8. When will my Catholic Church do like the Apostles and grab the bull by the horns. In other words- have the guts to call out what is wrong with society that is causing all this heartache.
Speak about the breakdown of the family , the disrespect men and women have for each other, and the debauchery taking place in St Lucia. Speak about the genocidal abortion rate with abortion as birth control. Speak about the music which starts up at 6 am in some communities, that is abusive and utterly disrespectful towards woman. Speak about the massive drug usage contributing to the murders and violence.
The Catholic Church is losing members in droves because it is practicing and supporting secular corrupt liberal behavious and policies. While ignoring basic Christian values. Standing in front of the alter every Sunday preaching pablum to the converted, will not cut it anymore.

This march is pure theater and pappyshow. I also agree with one comment that it also exposes the marchers in what is effectively a war zone with gangs blasting away at all and sundry.
Please rethink this public relations stunt, we have enough of that in St Lucia.

  9. On a point of correction, this was planned and announced at the church in Vieux Fort weeks before the last set of killings.

  10. ” A nation without God’s guidance is a nation without order. ” I applaud Archbishop Malzaire for this most needed prayer, solidarity and peace march event. Way overdue and should be welcome by all. We know there are many factors at play in this crisis we are facing, and various stringent measures are needed to help resolve it. But it’s all hand on deck, every bit of positive action helps. I believe in God, and I believe in the power of prayers and action for resolve.

  11. GOD :
I have seen a horrible thing in the house of Israël
    “I hâte,I despise your religeous feasts :
    I cannot stand your assembly,
Away with the noise of your song ;I will not listen to the music of your ….
I will not accept them,I will have no regard for them ,even they bring me tithe and offerings…
But let ⚖️ justice roll like a river, righteousness like a never fading stream ….
Be very careful to keep the commandments and the laws that Moses the servant of the LORD gave us,to love the LORD our God,to walk in all his ways …
Do what is right and good in the LORD’S sight so it may go well with us, so that (we may live and prosper and prolong our days in the land that we are posessing…
And let us not provoke our God,
Singing the LORD’S song in the funneral of the ‘UNSAVED ‘…..
