Jerry Springer, the TV personality well-known for his wild talk shows, has died at 79.

His family said he passed away at his home outside Chicago after a brief illness.

The Jerry Springer Show, which he hosted for twenty-seven years, became renowned for its raucous audience and participants airing personal details of their dysfunctional relationships.

The show’s outrageous guests usually fought as the audience cheered, “Jerry, Jerry, Jerry, Jerry!”

The website TMZ described Springer as ‘one of the most influential and controversial figures in TV history.’

His broadcasting career included roles as a political reporter and commentator.
