On Wednesday, the United States Coast Guard repatriated forty-four illegal migrants who claimed to be from the Caribbean to the Dominican Republic.

According to the Coast Guard, two migrants claimed to be Haitian, while the others identified themselves as Dominican Republic nationals.

The Coast Guard intercepted them during two missions on Monday and Tuesday in Mona Passage waters off the west coast of Puerto Rico and northwest of Desecheo Island, Puerto Rico.

Since October 1, 2022, through May 31, 2023, the Coast Guard has interdicted 46 migrant vessels in the Mona Passage and waters near Puerto Rico.

  1. Dominicans can be from Dominican Republic which is SPANISH or from Dominica (Commonwealth of Dominica) English speaking. They should perhaps be called Dominica Republicans
