Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre has extended congratulations to Tourism Minister Dr. Ernest Hilaire, Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA) CEO Lorine Charles-St. Jules, their team, and the industry partners after Saint Lucia won major tourism awards.

Saint Lucia won three awards in what the SLTA called a resounding achievement.

The Island won ‘Caribbean’s Leading Honeymoon Destination’ for the fourteenth time.

Saint Lucia also won the title of ‘Caribbean’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination’ for the second time.

“The pinnacle of this year’s success was the coveted title of ‘Caribbean’s Leading Nature Destination’, a maiden recognition that underscores Saint Lucia’s unwavering commitment to preserving its natural treasures,” according to an SLTA release.

The recognition came as the Island hosted the 30th Anniversary celebrations of the World Travel Awards Caribbean & the Americas on August 26th at Sandals Grande.

Delegates from across the Caribbean arrived for the event.

“Let us continue building a sustainable tourism product that we can all be proud of,” Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre, a former Tourism Minister, wrote on Facebook.

  1. Congratulations
Now finish the hospital and the HIA project and just may be we will win some more awards.

  2. I don’t understand how this last hotel on the list above even won anything cause it only changed hands a few months ago, they made the place all inclusive which is killing the business for taxi drivers around cause guests don’t come out and even if they do there is really nothing there to see, they didn’t even promote our carnival season to at least allow guests to know what’s going on so they could experience the outside culture which like I said earlier kills the business for taxi drivers cause they don’t get any trips to take guests to town for carnival and not to mention the high docking fees which made the majority of boat owners migrate to the Rodney bay Marina so now you barely get much boats who want to do grocery shopping.

If you take a trip down there now the place is so dead even in this closed season and all other hotels to the north like Royalton their occupancy is way higher. To the person managing this hotel I suggest you get things in place so that everyone can make a dollar and not only you the hotel.

This is why our Minister says that we the people are the U in to”U”rism
