Monday morning’s fatal shooting of a Barre St. Joseph, Castries, resident marked the second time in two years that a member of the same family succumbed to gun violence.
Police have identified the latest victim as 25-year-old Dayne Felix alias ‘G6’, proprietor of G6 Productions.
His grandfather, Peter Marius, recalled that Felix’s uncle died from gunshot injuries about two years ago.
Marius described Felix as a peaceful individual.
He told reporters the young music producer left for work early on Monday.
The grandfather said about twenty minutes later, he learned of the shooting.
Marius disclosed that when he visited the hospital, he received information that the young man had died.
“They are destroying my children,” Marius lamented.
He described the individuals responsible for the spate of killings in Saint Lucia as being ‘more than mad’ and devoid of sympathy and love.
“If you have love in your heart, you won’t kill,” Marius declared.
Police said at about 6:50 am, the Marigot Police Station learned of a shooting at Barre St. Joseph, Castries.
On arrival, officers found an unresponsive man with injuries to his torso.
According to the police, the initial investigation revealed that a lone gunman shot the victim.
In addition, investigators found several spent shells near the body.
Emergency responders from the Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) transported the victim to the OKEU Hospital, where a medical practitioner pronounced him dead.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force has appealed to anyone with information about the case to come forward.
