UWP To Launch ‘Operation Rescue Saint Lucia’ With Saturday’s Protest March

The opposition United Workers Party (UWP) has disclosed that it will officially launch ‘Operation Rescue Saint Lucia’ with the party’s planned march on St. Jude Hospital on Saturday, October 14, 2023.

“On Saturday we officially launch Operation Rescue Saint Lucia. Your country needs you now more than ever,” UWP leader Allen Chastanet wrote on Facebook.

” Bring along your family members and friends as we march to the St. Jude Hospital to demand better from the Government,” the opposition leader stated.’

The former Prime Minister asserted that the government focuses on politics rather than dealing with the issues that affect people.

UWP Deputy Political leader Dominic Fedee told an opposition Town Hall meeting on Sunday that the ‘flambeau flame’ was shining brightly across Saint Lucia.

Fedee said that the ruling Saint Lucia Labour Party was ‘shaky and worried’ about the movement that was building up.

Former Castries Central MP Sarah Flood-Beaubrun, who also addressed the town hall meeting, recalled that people did not have to get a call to march.

“We had a soul. But now we are losing our soul,” the former MP asserted.

“That is why we are so passive,” she asserted.

Nevertheless, Flood-Beaubrun declared that there’s something called righteous indignation.

She told the audience that people ought to get vexed over some things.

“That is a good vex – a vex that pleases God. A vex that is morally justified. A vex that nobody has to ask you to get vexed,” she explained.

Flood-Beaubrun said St. Jude Hospital was something to get vexed about.

  1. ##”That is a good vex – a vex that pleases God”.

Excuse me while I express skepticism or weariness over the usage of religious rhetoric in the context of political or societal issues. I get the politics of it – aligning oneself or a cause with a divine entity can sometimes be viewed as a tactic to legitimize a particular stance. But you are also saying that the opposing view is not blessed by God.

##Perhaps the protest needs a different name. The name for the “operation” conveys a sense of irony. Here is a suggestion

“Operation, we really don’t want SLP to complete a hospital so we can use it our advantage, and get back in office”.

    Ah satirical commentary!!!

  2. This march is a political disgrace for the UWP. I don’t know what they want to rescue St.Lucians from. They sound like a bunch of bankrupt, power seeking politicians. The SLP has secured funds to get St.Judes completed. UWP had the opportunity and they failed. There is no need to have any protest in Vieux Fort at the moment.

  3. The headline is apropos, we should rescue St. Lucia from Chastanet and his UWP henchmen. Chastanet, the most corrupt prime minister ever to hold the office left us with numerous odious debts before being kicked out of office. Chastanet has absolutely nothing productive to offer St. Lucia. All he has to offer are empty rhetorics, platitudes, and the same old UWP mantra ” SLP has no plan.”

  4. Listen to the experts of gutter politics…they all have pseudo PhD’s in the art and methods of wallowing in stinking putrid mud… their language is nothing but backward, rhetoric use is poor, use of metaphors are appalling, they can’t make a descent speech…I cringe at reading their missives….here is a snapshot of your society….no surprise we are a society in decline….

  5. Rotflmao 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂…I never hear a protest like that for my life before….😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂………….. Them flambeaus kill me DEAD tonight………that piece of news sweeten my soul 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂….bunch of jokers….

  6. The Circus Is Coming To Town
The greatest $#!% show on earth
old features, old acts, old prodigies
lousier smaller and worst than ever

    Vieux Fort Saturday October 14

  7. Same people, same faces, same ideas and we expect sometime different. You are all devoid of concrete ideas to move St. Lucia forward. I just recently read a piece about horse racing enthusiast planning on starting horse racing events on the cacabeth in View Fort. Just wondering why not the “state of the art horse racing facility we have near by”. To think of the resources diverted to accomplish this now monument to everything that is wrong with our political system. In the end. It’s always the people that suffer. While these wannabe politicians get to spend the people’s money not on what the people want but to satisfy their oversized egos.

  8. I’m not into party but you labour hacks are a real bunch of illiterate, how many opportunities has labor had to complete this damn hospital? How many. Kenny said for 4 years consecutively it would be finished on “X” date. He gave 4 different dates and it was not even 1/4 complete. We are in a sad state in this country.

  9. Kenny started the hospital the problem is Saint Lucians wasn’t satisfied with the Labour government, voted them out bring in Chastanet and thought they was getting the best especially when Chas told st Lucians that they’ll be able to travel to the ISA without a visas and Lucian so damn stupid they believe that myth not thinking because everybody wants to come to America- coming to America without a visa is crossing the borders and being refugees . De Ban Cooyour

  10. Are you Chas going to tell the nation the number of passports you sold?
We want to hear what you will do with some of the Labor programs. Eg are you going to stop the stipened for the teachers? Are you going to stop the increase for the pensioners? Will you continue given the 50 scholarships?
Talk about these during the March, if this cannot be done, we will accept the March as the Orange March.

  11. The rescue operation that they NEED to do is rescue the UWP from that demented lunatic Allen Chasnet. Cuz as long as he is in charge, it is unlikely that Lucians will vote him to pwer again after all the nonsense that he has done.
