Chastanet Says SLP Using His Skin Colour, Birthplace To Remove Him From Politics

Opposition leader Allen Chastanet has accused the ruling Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) of seeking to remove him from the local political landscape, using every possible strategy, including his skin colour and birthplace.

Chastanet declared that the SLP began its campaign when he became the United Workers Party (UWP) leader in 2013.

“The SLP has employed every strategy possible to get rid of me from Saint Lucian politics,” the former Prime Minister wrote on Facebook.

“They even launched a campaign against me based on the colour of my skin and the country that I was born,” the Micoud South MP said.

“They are now so desperate to get rid of me from the political landscape that they are working on legislation to table in Parliament, which would prevent me from serving the people of Micoud South and the citizens of Saint Lucia,” the opposition leader stated.

On Sunday, UWP spokesman Lenard ‘Spider’ Montoute accused the SLP administration of planning to use its parliamentary majority to ensure only a Saint Lucia-born individual could become Prime Minister of this country.

The government enjoys a 15-2 majority in parliament.

On Sunday, Grenada’s Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell urged the audience at an SLP event to ensure they put Saint Lucians into office.

Individuals with consenting and opposing views took to social media regarding Mitchell’s remarks, viewed as an oblique reference to Allen Chastanet.

Chastanet was born in Martinique due to ‘medical complications’.

But he said he has spent most of his life working, developing, and serving Saint Lucia, the country he loves dearly.

The UWP leader explained that he could have chosen to live anywhere.

“But this is where my heart truly belongs. In the famous words of Morningstar – ‘Saint Lucia We Love!'” Chastanet stated.

  1. Are racism and misoginy are now part of the SLP’s playbook? How can this beautiful country have regressed so badly? Have criminals and bullies entered our halls of power? What evil possesses this fair helen? The world is watching and shaking its head at these vile reprobates. Meanwhile the churches, the press, civil society remain silent either supporting this filth or too terrified of being wiped out like Baje, Mikey and Gobat. If I was the local whites, the Indians and the Syrians, I would move my money overseas before RF and PJP turn St. Lucia into another Mugabe’s Zimbabwe or Amin’s Uganda.

  2. I always heard rumours that PJP hated the local whites. I told people that wasn’t true and he is just not very sociable. Now I am seeing the truth. For years KDA despised his own local white family even changing his name and as for RF. Isn’t he well known for his racist and sexist rhetoric. The Indians are next as look at what they call Guy. There are decent people like Emma, Kenson and Prospere in the party. They should try to help remove the poison in the party.

  3. Never catch a fire and you have no water to extinguish it when it’s burning out of control. You claimed to be a product of, Canada, so you don’t have St.lucia and St Lucians at heart, you see yourself as a slave master and we belong to you.
You vehemently attacked, Kennedy Anthony,by calling him a massar. You attacked his family,by calling them slave owners. Wasn’t that an attack on his skin colour? Now the shoe is on the other feet and you calling foul.
Your claim of being a product of Canada is all the right reasons you should run for elective office there.
It’s glearing to see mordern days slavery is still being practice in Canada and we can’t allow a Canadian to dictate what happens in st.lucia.
Racial slurs, insultive words, hate, name calling and shaming is being used by your associates on a daily basis; and you support it daily, not one day you have taken a stand against it as the leader of a political party, seeking to be in the prime ministerial chair, again.
I, support 100% a move by the government to pass legislation to barred a foreign national,a product of Canada like you to run the affairs of St.Lucia.
We can no longer practice modern day slavery here. ” Sorry”.

  4. @Augier Observer STOP YOUR LYING??? “Local White’s” who are they or did you mean local malattos who think or were taught to believe they are white ?? You ment Shabbins ??? This day and age everyone of them need to get over themselves, we don’t work as butler and gardeners anymore and we do work at the front desk at the banks now

  5. My black son was born in the US because my wife had a severe medical emergency. He was born prematurely and it was touch and go. He has never lived anywhere but St. Lucia and he is a good, kind man who is proud of his chocolate skin and St. Lucian heritage. In you all haste to try to destroy this mixed race man with white skin, you are destroying the ability of loyal St. Lucians to serve their country. You want to destroy dreams and aspirations to achieve your narrow minded goals. The SLP wants to create second class citizens? This is putting the people first? I would never believe black people could be such selfish, vacuous and ugly racists. Where are their pretend christians always posturing on Facebook? The bible tells us:
‘A new commandment I give to you, That you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another.’

  6. In a desperate attempt to stay relevant, Chastanet Says SLP Using His Skin Colour, Birthplace To Remove Him From Politics

  7. …..again AND ???? YOU NAME ONE COUNTRY THAT DOES NOT REQUIRE YOUR NAVAL STRING TO BE CUT THERE IN ORDER FOR YOU TO BE THE HEAD OF STATE OF SAID COUNTRY ??? EVERY COUNTRY HAS A CONSTITUTIONAL MANDATES REQUIRING THIS REQUISITE, SO WHO THE HELL IS THIS FORIGER TRYING TO FOOL. MAN GO SIT DOWN. QUESTION FOR ALL YELLOW JACKASSES DID YOUR WHITE GOD RELINQUISH HIS MARTINIQUE CITIZENSHIP ??? WHEN ??? WAS YOUR GOD ANOINTED TO BE A ST LUCIAN ?? WHEN ??? PAPER WORK PLEASE…..PUT UP OR SHUT UP.

  8. I am not surprise People have not understood the vision of Uncle Chas. After all, most Lucians expect handouts from the government. Pierre is quite aware of the expectation and he plays right into that play book. The Government should not be in the business of making any profits. Instead, they should be creating an environment where the citizens can win and live up to their dreams. Uncle Chas was right on track with all the investments he had in the pipeline. Unfortunately he was stopped by Covid and never got the chance to complete his mission. His determination is still well and alive and the hope is he will get back into power to move SLU to the next level it should be. We should have been in a better place now. Instead we still have a dependency on the government. We wait for them to meet certain basic needs for us. The time has come where we should all prepare for the worst and expect the best. We have not change things around to prepare for another covid. Our health care bills still depend on how much we can get from a “GO FUNDME Page” or some social activity such as a dance. We still go to our rep for assistance after a disaster such as flood or a fire. Is that what we call progress ? After all, we have been using these options for years. Isn’t it time to change the approach and become independent of the government. Chas, in my opinion is the only MAN who will take us to a level where we will be completely independent. Lucians need to begin to think of progress. We are only regressing under the SLP government and this is just not right. We need to be independent.

  10. …And here observe, bipedal primates, a nation descends into baseless and wanton self debasement and wallow in it’s putrid quagmire of ignorance, which, having such grand potential is but a shadow of its former self…therein lies the cankerous rot that pervades an unprogressive ilk…speak of love yet spew hate, speak of unity but foment division, talk of the love for god yet exhibits hatred for your fellow countryman…what has become of this fair Helen? See how Her sons of daughters wallow in their infantile rancour and the cancer reveals itself in a dysfunctional society, crime ridden and anarchic…this will only end one way …….badly.

  11. Until we the people start causing havoc in this country those slp ministers will never take us serious there’s something in Chas allu afraid of and that’s his potential to develop this country

  12. Umm. U mean there is mention and a thought to prevent a Lucian citizen from being the PM. OMG. So my child who was not born would not eligible to be PM because I chose for him to have citizenship from a country that would eventually provide him with free education and has more opportunities than here. SMH. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT PJP and THOSE HV BRAIN WASHED PPL SO MUCH. No btw i can believe it. Look at the constituencies of PJP, KDA and KIng who hv been there for 3 terms or more, then look at ALR which has been a Labour stronghold for years. No Developemnt. A bunch of ppl who depend on handouts, stimulus, etc.

  13. Below is a list of countries that allow only native-born citizens to stand for election as president: Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Angola, Argentina, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Brazil, Colombia, China, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Maldives, North Macedonia, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, Republic of Korea, Republic of China, Turkey, Taiwan, United States. Are those countries all racist and misogynistic based on their constitution? Some people are so inured to stupidity that reason and logic cannot reach their intellect.
To be clear, there is nothing inherently wrong with the SLP-led government ratifying a constitutional amendment making it possible for only native-born St. Lucia to be elected as prime minister.

  14. It is a shame, that not even politicians seem to know (??) about St Lucia’s constitution when it comes down to WHO and HOW a Prime Minister is chosen (not by elections!!). Everyone should read the Constitution of St Lucia to KNOW how politicians trick people in believing nonsense.

    Knowledge is power.

  15. Nothing wrong with making only native-born Saint Lucians eligible for Prime minister. With CIP, any rich person can buy citizenship and become Prime Minister of our Country.

  16. @ IS, you are missing the point. Before you point your bony finger of indignation at the SLP-led government for proposing a constitutional amendment please note that it is within their rights to make changes to the constitution. Currently, the Westminister system allows the party leader of the majority to be prime minister regardless of birthplace. After Margaret Thatcher was booted out of office as prime minister of the United Kingdom, John Major was made party leader and subsequently prime minister. We are quite familiar with the procedures and processes of the Westminister system. However, the SLP-led government can ratify a constitutional amendment requiring only native-born St. Lucians to be party leaders and prime ministers. It is not farfetched for such a proposal to become law.

A constitution that can no longer be reformed is dead. The constitution hasn’t been reformed or amended since independence. The consequences of a constitution frozen in time is dire. So kudos to the SLP to muster the courage to reform our dying constitution.

  17. The wrath of god will fall on st Lucian I’m scared very scared Philip Joseph Pierre don’t go that way my friend I’m scared politics is dirty don’t let Richard Fredrick make you loose your soul I’m scared

  18. Ras Biko you mentioned 36 countries out of over 300 countries, excluding Laborie, in the world that have that clause inserted in their constitution. Of these countries only 4 of them, went through a constitution reform to include that. The others had it enshrined in the original constitution. Then you can Google it for yourself, of the 36 countries 20 of them does not say MUST BE BORN IN THE COUNTRY, instead the constitutions reference that they MUST BE A CITIZEN OF THAT COUNTRY. I know so many people who for whatever reason gave birth in another country by accident. What is the big deal and why is it that now that the SLP seems to be playing into Chastenet’s hands and helping him regain popularity, they suddenly think that they should now have constitutional amendment to prevent him from being Prime Minister. PIP should try to govern the country and stop campaigning and protecting the victory. If he does what he was elected to do, then there would be no reason to fear Chastenet to the point that he would use a constitutional amendment to block his path to the Prime Ministership of this country.

  19. @Rasss Bicko…. I see you went out on you limb to justify yellow mythology, to be expected after all what are you paid for ……your last paragraph sums it up so why the alias complaining about legislation that benefits native born St Lucians ONLY…..you and your yellow cohorts are acting like a crime of political traversty is been launched against Allan Chastanet where on the other hand this initive should be appluded for future St Lucians. You took your time to research how many countries requires native born ONLY to be heads of state, so did you put in the same effort to research your yellow God St Lucian Birthright Authenticity to be head of state ??? Oh my, my, my, too work I guess no worries we got you wink, wink.

  20. Haha, St Lucians calling Chas uncle. What a shame. Is Chas related to all you by lies and corruption? Check your pigmentation.
    Shame,
Chastanet should never head UWP again. He and Guy had us to lose the last election.
By the way Chas we are still waiting for your apology for calling our cousin Non entity.

  21. ST LUCIA DOESNT NEED OVERSEERS, AND WE’VE HAD MORE OF THEM RULING AS PRIME MINISTER TO NATURALLY BORN ST LUCIANS. I’M ST LUCIAN, MY KIDS BORN IN ANOTHER COUNTRY SHOULD NOT NO MATTER HOW MUCH THEY LOVE ST LUCIA HOLD THE HIGHEST OFFICE OF THE LAND, MAYBE RUN AS GOVERNMENT MINISTER IN PARLIAMENT BUT NEVER BE PRIME MINISTER OF THE LAND.

  22. I am lost, above all the racisms why are we accepting hand outs from the vary own white man hands, why selling your land to the vary set of people. Politics are just filt in the whole
