The United States Coast Guard rescued thirty-four illegal Caribbean migrants who encountered distress at sea in an overcrowded boat.

The incident occurred on Sunday.

According to the Coast Guard, their crews repatriated the migrants to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

The migrants were on an overloaded, makeshift vessel in Mona Passage waters off the western coast of Puerto Rico.

The passengers were waving their hands for assistance as their rescuers faced eight-foot seas and occasional 12-foot swells.

Nevertheless, the Coast Guard crew safely embarked all the migrants despite the challenging sea conditions.
