Teenage Assault Victim Rushed To Hospital

Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) emergency personnel rushed a seventeen-year-old physical assault victim to the OKEU Hospital on Thursday.

At about 3:05 pm, the SLFS Headquarters crew responded after receiving the report of the physical assault on the student at Entrepot, Castries.

SLFS spokeswoman Stacy Joseph said the responders found the teenage male with several body injuries.

Joseph told St. Lucia Times they included several lacerations to his arms and a wound to his head.

She stated that the emergency responders treated the victim’s wounds before transporting him to the hospital in stable condition.

In recent times, Saint Lucia has witnessed a spike in violence involving young people.

The violence has often been blamed on youth gang rivalry, reportedly influenced by the Trinidad and Tobago Sixx and Seven gang culture.

Earlier this month, OKEU Hospital officials complained that injuries from road incidents, acts of violence, and attending to people with Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) have contributed to a bed management crisis at the Accident and Emergency (A&E) Department.

Reporters heard at a news conference that the patient care situation had burdened the OKEU Hospital’s resources.

As a result, people were urged to seek non-urgent care at their nearest community Wellness Centre.

  1. Wether we believed it or not, though we may not see but hear :
    Every morning,dear people,
God will put to sleep all the wicked in the land, their, hate, jealousy, their descendants and memories will be wipe forever never to remember ❗

  2. Can someone explain to me WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE YOUTH IN ST. LUCIA TODAY? gang violence has taken hold of the idle, the young and thoughtless; why seek the stupidity that goes on in Trinidad? there are good and the bad out of every Country but the evil seem to attract some spiritually blind the most. Some time ago a lady from Trinidad organized an international witches conference right here and guess what, since Spirits don’t die, a chunk of them plus local ones decided to stay on to reap havoc. The death rate and injury of some mindless vehicular accidents, now Knifing plus the shootings is fast placing St. Lucia in line with Haiti while I hope not.
May I answer my own question? THE YOUTH REQUIRE A SOUND & SOLID BIBLICAL STUDY ALONG WITH THE RIGHT PRAYERS, TO PRAY IN THE MORNING BEFORE LEAVING HOME; everyone irrespective should seek the Lord Jesus asking for his guidance for the day ahead. Praise HIS holy name: Amen.

  3. @#THE FOX …You are right. Unless the children are guided by the parents to love God with all the heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love (which includes respect) one another as they love themselves, the future of this place is utterly bleak!!! Scripture tells us that unless the godly hearts of the fathers are turned to the children (to restore and guide them in the ways of righteousness), and the hearts of the children are turned to the fathers (to be guided on the path of roghteousness, what awaits us is total destruction! That’s the truth of the Word of God! (You can read it for yourself in Malachi chapter 4).

  4. The Youth of St. Lucia on a whole are doing wonderful, amazing things. It’s just a handful of them who are jeopardizing their lives and the lives of their peers.
