Police Probe Leaked Internal Alert About Threats Against Officers

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) is investigating the leakage of an internal document detailing numerous social media death threats against officers.

The threats followed Saturday’s police-involved fatal shooting of Maxwell Leo, alias ‘Hennessy’.

Maxwell, described as known to the police and a ‘notorious gang leader’, was on bail for a firearm possession charge when he sustained the fatal gunshot injuries.

According to the police document, verified as authentic by St. Lucia Times and which has gone viral on social media, there is a strong possibility that members of a named gang would retaliate for Duncan’s death.

The document included photographs of some alleged gang members, all of them residents of Marigot, where the deceased Maxwell Duncan also resided.

It also outlined measures to deal with the threats against officers.

A senior police officer who spoke anonymously to St. Lucia Times condemned the leakage of the internal police document, entitled ‘Law Enforcement Alert’, declaring that the leak would have come from a police officer.

The senior cop explained that Heads of Departments would have received the alert and would likely have shared it with their staff.

“This was an intelligence report meant for officers, not for the public,” the senior official explained, adding that the Police Commissioner should do all in her power to get to the bottom of the matter.

The probe into the leaked document comes amid a surge in deadly gun violence, primarily responsible for 44 homicides so far in 2024.

Just last week, the police announced the seizure of 12 319 rounds of ammunition and twenty-one illegal firearms between April and June this year.

In April, officers recovered nine firearms and 117 rounds of ammunition, four firearms and thirty-four rounds of ammo in May, and in June, eight firearms and 12 168 rounds of ammunition.

A police Facebook post described the seizures as ‘impressive‘.

However, some members of the public have complained bitterly about the court granting bail to individuals police charged with such offenses.

According to them, bail amounts to a slap on the wrist in an environment where gun crime has become a serious national concern.

  1. There was great jubilation at Bois d’Inde when Henessy got killed. Right now, Marigot residence must be on their alert, cause more criminals will come to support the gang against the police. One thing I will say categorially clear, once these criminals attack the police, the police should take no chance than to kill them all. Let Mary defend them

  2. a known criminal is found with an illegal firearm and he or she is out in the public on bail so what you expect them to do .obviously committe other crimes to get money to pay for bail the next time he gets caught

  3. The only problem I have is these guys kill or cause to be killed multiple persons and get to die once just like the rest of us. Funny? That’s life. However, it is sad that there are Police Officers who do stupid things that serve only to endanger themselves and their colleagues, hence the reason for this leak. I wonder what lawful interest or these Police officer/s though was been served by their antics. Again I always wondered why any police officer in his right mind believes that any criminal he collaborates with is actually a friend or ally and that criminal trusts him beyond where he can see him? Such fools.

  4. What the government should do is make make gang formation illegal. Once you have committed agregious crimes and are known to be part of a collective…you are in a gang and by law that should be illegal….. Pierre should have made that law last week ….and since these pretend boys who are really infants playing bad man send the entire force after them… I have not sympathy for those idiots. Useless scum.

  5. That’s one of the biggest mistake someone can do. Those young guys looking for problems for their families. I will be watching because trust and believe the police will pay you’ll a visit. And life will be very difficult for you’ll. shit happened to whatever you’ll do or say won’t change the outcome remember that.

  6. What is the procedure used by st.Lucian police if one decides to elude arrest? When a police officer discharges his or her firearm, is there an investigation team to determine whether it was lawful and justified?

  7. What crock is this? We deserve to know who these perpetrators are. When they were leaking stuff to you know who, we looked the other way because it suited the agenda. Now it’s on your door step you don’t like lt. Tough.

  8. I have said before and it again the police needs to change the rules of the game since the criminals have change the game so there absolutely now reason to stick to the old rules because the game is not the same anymore and deal with those that sow nothing but death and destruction on the island
until that day when those put in position to protect n serve the citizens of this country willing to take off the golves n deal with them that sow choas in this place there will be no peace n security

  9. A minister said that the police was feeding him information. Was any investigation done at that time?

  10. This is very disturbing that confidential information is being leaked into the public. How can the police be trusted? It is clear the police force has been infiltrated with THUGS and will do anything to protect the gang leaders and possibly on the payroll of the gang leaders.
