Pierre Delivers Inspiring Keynote At Africa Investment Event

Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre delivered a keynote address at the 2024 Africa Investment Risk and Compliance (AIRC) Summit.

The summit, hosted by the Emerging Business Intelligence and Innovations Group (EBII Group), centred around the theme: “Sustainable Resource Extraction in a Changing Climate: Compliance, Strategies, and Innovations.”

The 2024 AIRC Summit brought together industry experts, policymakers, political leaders, investors, and other relevant stakeholders.

The summit provided a crucial platform for discussing innovative solutions and forging strategic partnerships to tackle global challenges related to investment and trading in Africa. Attendees included key figures from various sectors, all dedicated to promoting sustainable development and economic growth.

In his address, Prime Minister Pierre highlighted the deep historical and cultural ties between Africa and the Caribbean, emphasizing the shared challenges and opportunities faced by both regions.

He articulated a vision of unity, resilience, and mutual support, advocating for stronger collaborations to address climate change and promote sustainable development.

Here are some key messages from the prime minister’s keynote address:

  1. Prime Minister Pierre underscored the Caribbean’s strong demographic and cultural connections to Africa, describing it as “the first-born child of Africa.” He invoked the words of Reggae legend Bob Marley and Nobel Laureate Derek Walcott to emphasize the long-standing yearning for reunification and mutual recognition.

2. As CARICOM’s Lead on Climate Change the prime minister highlighted the severe impacts of climate change on both Africa and the Caribbean, He called for climate justice, stressing that S.I.DS pollute the least but suffer the most. He urged for substantial financial resources to support adaptation and mitigation, criticizing the slow fulfillment of the $100 billion climate finance promise made at COP28.

  1. Prime Minister Pierre emphasized the importance of leveraging Africa’s vast resources, including its mineral wealth, arable land, and youthful population, to achieve sustainable development goals.
  2. Prime Minister Pierre introduced Saint Lucia’s innovative “Youth Economy” initiative, which focuses on empowering young people through entrepreneurship, education, and skills development while highlighting the potential of Africa’s youthful population to drive economic growth and innovation.
  3. Prime Minister Pierre also advocated for stronger Africa-Caribbean ties, suggesting that the Caribbean could serve as Africa’s gateway to the Americas. He called for improved transport and logistics links and easier travel between the two regions to facilitate greater economic and cultural exchange.
  1. Emphasizing the role of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Prime Minister Pierre urged for investment in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education to prepare Africa’s youth to lead in various sectors, from renewable energy to infrastructure development.

Prime Minister Pierre’s address reinforced the importance of unity, resilience, and strategic cooperation between Africa and the Caribbean.

The summit continues to be a crucial platform for discussing innovative solutions and forging partnerships to tackle global challenges.

  1. In these times (the St. Lucia Times, in particular), it is disappointing & suspicious that a video & transcript of this “inspiring keynote” speech has not been made available to readers of this medium; a star headline, no less. Why should we accept second-hand opinion, when it is so easy to provide a direct video & transcript, to enable the readers to form their own opinion of Pip’s “substantive performance” towards the ultimate benefit of the St. Lucian citizenry?

C’mon St. Lucia Times! Roll with the times! Isn’t it time to stop limiting your product to being a mere news aggregator for generating clicks?

  2. Wow why are we so bitter and negative in this country ?
Isn’t good journalism about paraphrasing speeches and identifying the key issues in a presentation etc.

My issue with this article is that I am still to conclude when and where this meeting was or is being held.

  3. @Rude: The days of second-hand information are long gone! Welcome to the world of alternative media & citizen journalism – complete truth instead of a facsimile, thereof!

  4. @Rude: Forgot to add that citizen journalists should always be adversarial to the establishment narrative, and not be stenographers; as the editorial staff of St. Lucia Times have been with this article, which they cribbed, to a word, from the St. Lucia GIS! In effect, they’ve become a willing vessel of government propaganda.

  5. Inspiring wow ….well it’s much more than what we hear from this PM in his speeches here….politricks again….

  6. Why the HATE?
We don’t have to read their publishing!
Create your own and stop Bashing their brillante views..

  7. Let me now comment on the reason why The St. Lucia Government opted to provide no details, via the GIS website, of Pip’s keynote address at the African Investment Risk And Compliance Summit (AIRC) 2024:

He did not want to reveal that the summit was convened in Washington, D.C., specifically because it is solely a US gambit to control the vast resources of Africa, to backstop rampant de-dollarization initiated by BRICS+ nations. The US seeks to make Africa & the Caribbean choke on US’ US$34+ trillion debt to forestall a 2nd American Civil War, now that their plans for dominating the economies of Latin America are unravelling uncontrollably!

He was the black-faced keynote speaker used to shield the US from global scrutiny & opprobrium; in much the same way as Kenyan police are currently being used for hiding the US re-invasion of Haiti to extract its resources for US corporations!

Some months back, the world-renowned researcher & writer, Whitney Webb, teamed up with Mark Goodwin for an in-depth report on the US’ super-grift in Latin America; one which they hope to duplicate in Africa & the Caribbean:

  8. I now draw reference to 2 video discussions, which expand on the revelations from the article, linked above. They are very illuminative of the Climate Change grift being perpetuated on the unsuspecting citizens of the Global South (previously, Non-Aligned Nations), via their so-called leaders, supposed stewards of the people’s affairs:

  9. Africa ‘RISK’ Summit (speaks for itself) compliance strategies// to invoke the words of Reggae legend BOB MARLEY ……… yearning for Unification// fulfilling of the $100 Billion climate finance promise made at COP 28; are you still seeing Stars in gold?
PjP is something else, he heard money, Africa, promises promises he fell for it; your problem brother is too many years of Marshande politics, welcome to the big times bro.
