Tiller Day ’24

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) celebrated Tiller Day, a momentous occasion for the Police Marine Unit on Friday July 26, 2024.
The officers showcased, in exceptional fashion, manoeuvres and techniques honed for use in their regular operations, although some of the more extravagant techniques were reserved for their intended purposes.
The display was led by the Commander of the Police Marine Unit, Superintendent Kentry Frederick.
With the assistance of the Government Information Service (GIS), members of the public were able to witness the flotilla display from an aerial perspective, which truly highlighted its magnificence.
Commissioner of Police Crusita Descartes-Pelius and the Prime Minister, Honourable Phillip J. Pierre, who attended the showcase, observed the activity from the bow of one of the Police Marine Unit vessels.

The display featured intricate coordination and precision, demonstrating the unit’s readiness and skill.
As tradition would have it, the day’s celebrations continued at the Police Marine Unit base at Vigie, Castries, where a brief ceremony was held in honour of Tiller Day.
The ceremony was graced by Mr. Milton Desir, retired Commissioner of Police; Mrs. Sarah Dupre-Cotter, Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of National Security; Permanent Secretary Dr. Elizabeth Bailey and Deputy Permanent Secretary Mr. Ricky Quinlan from the Ministry of Home Affairs; and other members of the rank and file of the RSLPF.
