Motorcyclist Succumbs After Praslin Collision

A thirty-two-year-old motorcyclist has died following a collision with a Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF) vehicle on Wednesday.

The death brings to 12 the number of people who have succumbed following road incidents this year.

Police have identified the deceased as Christopher Lewis of Praslin Mon Repos.

At about noon on Wednesday, the Dennery Police Station received and responded to a report of a vehicular collision along the Dennery Praslin Highway.

At the scene, investigators discovered a damaged motor SUV and motorcycle.

According to reports, the SUV, with two Bordelais Correctional Facility officers in the front seat and three inmates in the back, had overturned.

Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) emergency personnel transported the two officers and the motorcycle rider to St. Jude Hospital, where the rider succumbed.

The three inmates are said to have declined emergency transportation to the hospital, asserting that they were uninjured.

As a result, the trio were handed over to BCF authorities.
