‘Put Down The Guns’ – Family Reacts After Barre Denis Homicide

Family members of Barre Denis homicide victim Troy Albert say it is time for the fatal shootings in Saint Lucia to stop.

“Put down the guns,” was their advice.

A female family member described the deceased as a good person and recalled that a male cousin had been shot dead last month in the same community. The funeral for that deceased has not yet taken place.

“Put the guns down and start praying,” she told reporters.

A male family member agreed.

“It’s about time dem fellas put down the guns. It not worth it,” he asserted, adding that the deceased was ‘nice with everybody’ and he could not think of a reason for the fatal shooting.

He said he knew of no issues the fatal shooting victim had with anyone.

According to the male family member, 35-year-old Troy Albert was the father of two girls.

He said Albert’s death was a hard blow.

Police said on Monday, August 5, 2024, at about 8:18 pm, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Castries received and responded to a report of a fatal shooting that occurred in Barre Denis, Castries.

“Preliminary investigations led to the discovery of an unresponsive male lying supine at the scene with multiple apparent gunshot wounds observed on his body,” a police release stated.

It said personnel from the Saint Lucia Fire Service who were present attended to the victim, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical practitioner.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) has urged anyone with information regarding the homicide to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 456-3754 or the Criminal Investigations Department at 456-3770.

The Crime Hotline (555) and the RSLPF Crime Hotline App are also available for anonymous reporting.

  1. God has turned his back on this country. To the few good non corrupt people that reside in this lawless disorderly hell hole: you either stand up now and save what is left of this place or you depart and leave it to its fate.

  2. God never turns his back on anyone, we are the ones who turn. We are to now behave like the prodigal son and return to our father, he is forgiving and will restore us. When Jonah declared to the people of Nineveh that God was going to destroy them for their wickedness, everyone from the king on down responded with repentance, fasting, and sackcloth and ashes (Jonah 3:5–7). It must start with our leaders, repent from our wicked ways.

  3. God haven’t and doesn’t turn his back on anyone or anywhere. It’s we the people who turn our backs on him. We must imitate the example of the prodigal son and return to our father who will forgive us our trespasses and restore us and our land. When Jonah declared to the people of Nineveh that God was going to destroy them for their wickedness, everyone from the king on down responded with repentance, fasting, and sackcloth and ashes (Jonah 3:5–7) Please note that the leaders must lead in this.
2 Chronicles 7:14-16 King James Version (KJV)
if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

  4. Parents are calling to put down the guns, they are seeing their children with the guns, they are afraid to tell them to give them up. It’s only when something happens then and only then they will come out with Put Down The Guns.

  5. Put the guns down that saying easier said than done but again st lucia is too small for all this violence is because 2 much CEE2WEARZ
they know clearly well who running around the community with illegal firearms and remains quiet but don’t forget those same guns might end up killing you whether direct or indirectly so just a lil something to think about
