Former Diplomat Cautions Against Great Expectations Of Harris

Amid reports of a groundswell of Caribbean support for Kamala Harris to become the next President of the United States of America, a former Saint Lucia diplomat has sounded a note of caution.

The former diplomat expressed that people in the region would hope she wins because of who she is, including being ‘ a person of colour‘ and the daughter of Indian and Jamaican immigrants.

The former Ambassador felt Harris as President might be ‘ a little more sympathetic’ to the Caribbean than Donald Trump.

However, he said that American foreign policy undergoes no fundamental change regardless of who the President is.

“You may find some minor changes. But look at what happened with Cuba and (Barack) Obama and (Joe)  Biden. For years now, America has maintained this embargo against Cuba. In his last days Obama actually visited Cuba,” the former Ambassador told St. Lucia Times.

“One would have expected that (Joe) Biden, who was then (Barack) Obama’s Vice President, would have carried that forward,” he stated.

Nevertheless, the former diplomat noted that it had not happened.

“From that perspective, I don’t expect the US’s broad policy toward the Caribbean and Latin America to change. For example, look at the position they are now taking against Venezuela,” he stated.

But he said that because Kamala Harris has Caribbean heritage, there is hope that she will be a little more sympathetic and prepared to listen more than others in the past.

Vice President Kamala Harris secured the support of 99% of delegates to become the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate.

It occurred after President Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race amid concerns over his age and his ability to defeat Republican contender, Donald Trump.

Biden is 81.

  1. This was my question. If you’re giving a statement of that nature as a former ambassador and feel justified in doing so, why under anonymity?

  2. “A former St Lucia diplomat” who doesn’t want to be quoted??? At least, if so, say so? And if so, you have to wonder why. A valid observation such as this should not be veiled in secrecy – poor journalism or what?”

  3. Ridiculous! Why are you keeping your identity a secret as a former diplomat! Whatever you say is your personal opinion and not that of the present government. If so is the case, why should I believe anything that you say?

  4. How can this message mean anything if we don’t even know where it came from. The only way we know Donald Trump didn’t write it himself is that it reads like a teenager wrote it, which is far above Donald’s capability.

  5. I see this article as nothing but the St. Lucian political duopoly of beggars’ attempt to reinforce in the minds of St. Lucians, their credo that “beggars can’t be choosers.” The expectation being promoted is that just as we cannot expect any significant increase in crumbs from the Democrats or Republicans; we shouldn’t expect any difference from the political duopoly (SLP/UWP) in St. Lucia (but it is framed in a regional context).

The “anonymous” respondents don’t see their own hypocrisy in declaiming the anonymity of the former ambassador; they’re merely sock-puppets being used to take the focus of readers from the hidden message in the article, while keeping them invested in the intrigues of plantation life.

There is an on-going initiative towards mental & economic decolonization in the world; something the house n166@, cited in this article, does not want you to know. The following video discussion introduces the global plan to escape plantation life:

  6. Since Biden became president 3.5 years ago, I have experienced gas prices go way up and stay up, egg prices almost doubled, and just about every food item on the market shelves, increased significantly. Even our very own home grown food prices have skyrocketed.
However, I am prepared to ignore all of this to see an obviously dumb “New World Order” controlled puppet sit in the seat of a world leader, pretending to be a leader, just because she has a dark face. Yes, all because I have a dark face too and I’m told I must vote or support black cuz I’m too stupid to think for myself.
What if the “Antichrist” is black (and he is BTW)? Should I support and worship him as well? Just wondering.
