Toddler Rushed To Hospital After Near Drowning Incident At Hotel

Emergency responders rushed a toddler to a medical facility on Monday after a near-drowning incident at what the Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) described as ‘a popular hotel in the north of the Island’.

According to an SLFS release, the incident  at Rodney Bay involved a two-year-old female.

Emergency personnel responded after receiving a distress call at 2:46 pm.

The SLFS release said Gros Islet Fire Station personnel found the child, who was ‘conscious, alert and oriented’ being carried to an ambulance by her mother.

The SLFS said the mother reported that the child went into the pool and was noticed after she sank to the bottom.

” It was unknown how long she was submerged. It was reported upon her removal from the pool she was unconscious,” the release stated.

It said chest compressions were quickly initiated, lasting for five minutes before the toddler regained consciousness and then vomited twice.

The emergency personnel assessed and treated the child, later transporting her to a medical facility in stable condition for further medical care.

  1. The hotel does not have a name. About 2 weeks ago there was a shooting in the car park of a hotel in Trouya, up to now we have not heard much about that. Why? If it is a local it will be like wild fire but because its a tourist place , it is hidden. Bravo St. Lucia news.

  2. Perhaps I am old school – I would never turn my back on a two year old. Thank God for the quick response – hopefully all will be well.

  3. The part that is concerning is “it is unknown how long she was submerged”. Who was responsible for watching this little girl?

  4. This is disheartening that a parent left her child unattended to the point where she was unsure of the timing. I must comment, if it wasn’t a health facility it would not be disguised.

  5. Miracles
Yes,I will remember miracles of long ago !
But you,O God,are king from old; you bring Salvation upon the earth..
It was you who split the open the sea by your powers..
A special thanks for the responding unit 🙏

  6. The week just start and incidents happening. Who let a 2year old go into a pool and turn their back. Thats just crazy. We have to keep alert every where now. The sea is dangerous, the roads are dangerous and just about all surroundings now is dangerous. Lets have a bless and Peaceful week.

  7. Wow…
You people are so stone cold. I read the article and got cold, then excited and very emotional that the little girl was brought back to life. Instead of saying “Praise the Lord” the child is alive, you all busy judging the parents or guardians. You think the parents allowed the child to go to the pool alone. I mean come on now. … like “really”

You all too bloody judgemental in St Lucia and you all business not ok at all. Choops. You all too illiterate to know anything about “Troublesome Two’s” That’s the time the kids are the most troublesone and very, very swift. The child could have been thre with a group and they were probably eating or so, and just escaped and everybody thinking that the other person has her. It happens all the time.

So instead of celebrating and rejoicing with the parents, you all dere bashing. St Lucians too damn negative and always seeing the glass half empty instead of half full. The same thing you all do when the young boys get caught with guns or commit a murder. … You all quick to blame the parents or family. Some of those young people completely out of control, no matter what home they come from. Their peers are more influential on them than their families. Some of the parents are fed up and are helpless with them, no matter how much they talk. STOP blaming families and parents alll the time for delinquent youths. Lere barb cmawad ou pwee defay, woozay sah wou.

When you all point a finger at someone, 4 more are pointed back at you. Maybe your kids not in crime, but are you tolerating them sleeping with other people’s husbands under your roof?

    Come off it judgemental Lucians

  8. What difference does it make what Hotel it was. You all like too much roro. How does that impact the facts of the matter that a toddler almost drowned, was rescued and is now safe and sound. That’s the bigger picture

You all not elevating you all selves at all eh? Let’s raise the bar. Too much ti boutique mentality. Ti temps ti payee.

  9. Yes, the past few days have been really bad news. Let us pray to change the trend.

A wonder nobody aint put politics in the picture yet.

  10. @Mary Jane……you put that question to our “Star” Hero Countryman and his Sideman “Classic Oh Really “. @ Alias Lydia Estaphane……they have too much Zafe’ and starch in their Jeans they are pretending to be Superman standing on Piti Piton with his cape swaying in the wind guarding I don’t know what as if there is no social media.

  11. While I appreciate the concern for this child’s well being, I must say very few asked these questions in the comment section when it came to the three year old who died in that fire. Why?

  12. Is there anything wrong in giving the name of the establishment where the event took place? Too often, we hear of a “a popular hotel in the north of the island, a popular business in the north of the island, a secondary school in the north of the island ‘.

  13. It would be nice to know who did the chest compressions so that person can been given recognition for a heroic job.
