Victim Of Fatal Police Involved Shooting At Bagatelle Identified

About 7:00 a.m. officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department, Castries were summoned to the scene of a fatal police involved shooting at Bagatelle, Castries.

A major joint police operation was initiated earlier, across various communities, which involved the execution of search warrants, vehicular check points, foot and mobile patrols.

The intent of the operation was to address gun related incidents, reports of theft, arrest individuals on Warrants of Arrests in the First Instance, secure suspects in reports where offenders were identified and to increase police-community engagement.

During the conduct of a vehicular checkpoint at Cacoa, Castries, officers were directed to a suspicious motor vehicle, which was engaged, but failed to stop. Two occupants were identified within the vehicle.

Following a pursuit, the motor car was discovered by officers at Bagatelle. One of the two occupants was still within, whilst it appeared the second individual was injured during the encounter.

He was subsequently confirmed as deceased by a medical practitioner. He has been identified as Jovian Willie alias “Heng-dem” of Marc, Bexon.

Initial investigations in the matter indicate that the motorcar was stolen from its owner at gunpoint earlier in the day. It was confirmed that officers had cause to discharge firearms during the encounter. A firearm was also recovered from the deceased suspect in this matter.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force is soliciting the assistance of the general public in identifying and securing the arrest of the second suspect who fled the motor vehicle. Anyone with information in this regard is asked to contact the nearest police station, the Crime Hotline App or the Crime Hotline (555).

  1. Who knows who the next victim would have been from their criminal streak. Clearly they were on a mission aka “up to no good”. Hope the officers receive support to continue carrying out their work with honor! Mary, there are tickets to fly to space, go for it.

  2. Serious questions must be asked of the police involved in this shootings! How on earth did the other one get away to live and rob another day? Not good enough, although one dead criminal is better than two out there! Next time officers, do your duty, whether is two or three, no one should get away!

  3. ‘Human rights lawyers’ is a misnomer, it should be ‘perpetrators support and encouragement lawyers ‘.

  4. Dem officers lapo. How y’all let that other POS live another day. Choops. But good job on the one. Next time go for 100%. Y’all do too much nonsense for too long. Y’all get to the point where y’all feel police cannot stop it.

  5. The command of a law enforcement officer must be obeyed at all times. Hope this incident sends a clear message to the thugs out there. The laws of the land must be respected, obeyed and enforced at all times. Law officers must take charge. You have the public’s support . The criminals should be the ones living in fear and not the other way around.

  6. Excellent. Sends a warning to the criminals out there.
Let’s have more patrols to deter criminals from using our roads and stolen vehicles for their activity.

Time to see action taken against motorists driving cars at night suspiciously without running lights.

  7. @FreezeI concur with your comment where you said and I quote “The criminals should be the ones living in fear and not the other way around.” Just a handful of so called ‘Bad Boys’ think they can terrorize our 238 square mile of paradise and his name is ‘Heng Dem’, truly his was up to no good, a disease.
