Eight-Member Saint Lucia Team For CAC Bodybuilding

The Saint Lucia Amateur Bodybuilding and Body Fitness Association (SLABBFA) will compete this weekend at the 51st Central American and Caribbean Bodybuilding Championship.

Over 200 athletes from around the region will descend on Guyana. The South American territory will host the competition for the first time in 20 years.

SLABBFA held its 46th annual national bodybuilding championship on August 31, laying the basis for the selection of the national team. Saint Lucia travels to Georgetown hopeful of adding to the medals won the past two years.

At the 2023 championships in Aruba, Jabari Brouet took silver in the senior men’s physique up to 179cm. Kirby Charles was fourth in the senior men’s physique over 179cm.

In 2022, Charles was third in men’s physique. Kirton Hubert took fourth in bodybuilding, as did Velda John in women’s body fitness. Brouet and Rochael Philip were fifth in men’s physique and women’s bikini fitness.

Charles (Mango Moon) and Brouet (Storm Caster Fitness) are both back in the team, and will be looking forward to coming back with more metal.

Most of the rest of the team is relatively inexperienced. Shani Victorin (Mango Moon) will compete in women’s bikini, the only female athlete this time out.

Joneil Pelage (Energy Fitness Gym) made a successful return to competition in 2024, and he is looking to carry the challenge in men’s bodybuilding, along with Sharkym Daniel (Southern Fitness).

Three athletes will go in the fitness speed fit challenge, Levi Edward, former track athlete Gratious Octave, and cricketer Shanii Mesmain. All three are from Soufriere Fitness Centre.

The athletes are accompanied by three delegates, Jacqueline Trim, president / judge, Monica Dudley, first vice president / manager, and Eugene Gabriel, second vice president / coach.

  1. One of these things is not like the others. One of these things just doesn’t belong. Can you tell which thing is not like the others. By the time I finish my song?
