Community In Shock Over Suspected Homicide In Marigot

The discovery of the body of a male on Monday in China Town, Marigot has left residents in confusion and shock.

The discovery, made along a road used as a shortcut, has raised concerns and speculation about the presence of gang violence, a situation locals say has been previously unheard of in their community.

According to the police, the victim, an unidentified male, was found with apparent signs of violence.

While authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the death, the nature of the injuries has led to suspicions of a violent crime.

The case has unsettled many, particularly as residents say that the deceased is not from Marigot.

One resident, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, expressed his concern about the incident, stating, “I’ll be honest, I didn’t hear any shots, but there were talks of shots in the area. Then to find out there was a body—it’s shocking because we don’t even know the person. Everyone is accounted for.”

The resident emphasised that Marigot is a close-knit community, and after checking around, residents confirmed that no one local was missing.

“We’ve done our checks. If anyone was missing, we’d know. And taking responsibility of persons that missing now and the person that we are seeing there, I don’t know that person at all.” the resident stated.

The presence of a violent crime in their neighborhood is deeply troubling for the residents of Marigot, who now feel an unexpected threat encroaching on their quiet community.

“We haven’t had issues like this for a while, and we’re not expecting them,” the resident continued. “But now that something like this has happened, we are concerned.”

Police have yet to release further details as the investigation unfolds.

  1. Violence has become endemic in our society. No district is immune from this skurge . We as a society have to change this mindset starting in the home, schools and civil society .
The government alone cannot affect this we must be proactive in pursuit of this change

  2. People of China Town Marigot said they are surprised at the shooting. This is a hypocrite, they know for sure who the shooters are, they are well aware that boyo is out and the Jimmo are doing a dirty job in the ally.
Another thing we all know police are skeptical to patrol the area. The judiciary is not doing enough, magistrates please try these gun cases or all of you should resign.

  3. Troy Francis you seem to be well piped in man.

I had to read the post twice to make sure that it was indeed Marigot in St Lucia they were referring to. Marigot is a peaceful area? Maybe the Marigot in China Town, in China is safe. Not the one in St. Lucia. Since when?

What’s the death toll to date? Too numerous to mention or too humorous?
