Two Dead, Children Injured In Martinique Gun Violence

Two individuals sustained fatal gunshot injuries, and children were hurt when scooter-riding assailants toting automatic weapons opened fire at a residence in the Martinique capital, Fort de France, on Sunday.

According to local reports, a fifteen-year-old boy died at the scene, while a 20-year-old female passed away sometime later following the shooting around 9:45 pm.

RCI.FM said three children, a 9-month-old baby and two youngsters aged 4 and 13, sustained severe injuries.

They appeared to have been members of the same family.

The incident shocked the neighbourhood where it occurred.

RCI.FM reported that by Monday morning, law enforcement officers had arrested two suspects, one of them a minor known to the police, in connection with armed robbery and illegal firearm use.

The investigation into the shooting continues.
