‘Show The World’ Returns To Celebrate Saint Lucia’s Musical Talent

Celebrated as a beloved event over the past six years, Ronald ‘Boo’ Hinkson’s Show the World concert is back.

Show the World gives audiences a unique chance to experience some of the island’s finest performers alongside promising up-and-coming talent, all in one night.

Hinkson, a Grammy-nominated artist and prolific musical talent, shares that this year’s concert will be particularly meaningful, highlighting the island’s rich talent after a stellar year for Saint Lucia overall.

“As a matter of fact, we are going to be very celebratory this year because there’s so much Saint Lucia has to celebrate you know—Ju Ju, Daren Sammy, Johnson Charles, a lot more we have to celebrate. So, this year the music will be less cerebral because I want people to come out and have a good time, sing along, and have a good night with us,” Hinkson said during a media event at Sandals Grande to unveil plans for Show the World.

“It’s going to be a great show. There’s going to be a lot of great young talent. I’m going to have some regulars with me, but rest assured, you’re going to have a great time,” he added.

This year too, Hinkson’s third version of the song “My Good Day,” which he wrote and composed, has achieved global success. Mixed and mastered by Danyl Daniel, co-produced alongside Deli Florentville, and featuring Irvin “Ace” Loctar and Shannon Pinell, the song has remained on Hungary’s Top 100 Jazz chart for 48 weeks this year, peaking at number five.

“I’ve been in this business for a number of years, and I think I’m now at a stage in my life where it’s time for me to nurture and develop new talent. There’s always an array of young talent from Saint Lucia at Show the World, and this year won’t be any different,” he said.

According to Hinkson, the concert also offers him a unique opportunity to write music for young performers.

This year’s event is sponsored by Financial Investment and Consultancy Services Ltd (FICS), Real Foods Inc., Caribbean Metals, Soufriere Regional Development Foundation (SRDF), Lewis Industries Ltd, Innovative Business Solutions, Baron Foods, Domino’s Pizza, the Ministry of Creative Industries, Tropical Shipping and CPJ.

Damian Biscette of Real Foods Inc.—franchise managers of KFC in Saint Lucia—noted that their ongoing sponsorship is inspired by the show’s focus on giving young talent a platform. “We believe that the show showcases young talent especially; that aspect we’re very impressed with. I think it’s a worthy cause to sponsor because a lot of those talents might not be recognized or never discovered,” he stated.

Biscette shared that past concerts left him impressed by the high level of local talent on display.

Show the World will take place on November 30 at Sandals Grande.

  1. Boo, you are a true Saint Lucian icon, a national hero and a talented musician to boot. Love how you always champion others and nurture them in the pursuit of greatness. I have had the opportunity to hear you perform on many occasions and I am always moved by your genius. We truly have a great number of talent on the island. Boo, Luther François, Rob Zee, Saxophonist lady (her name eludes me at this moment) and a great many more. I think Saint Lucia should do more to elevate the greatness of her artist.
