Northern Police Strengthening Community Ties

On Friday, November 15, 2024, officers from the Northern Policing Division gathered in Richfond to conduct what they described as ‘a community-focused police operation’.

The Northern Division encompasses the Gros Islet, Babonneau, Richfond, and Dennery,

According to a Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) Facebook post, the day began with a ‘warm visit’ to the Richfond Wellness Centre.

The post said the team engaged with patients and staff ‘in meaningful conversations’, followed by continued interaction with the residents, school, and local businesses, further strengthening the connection between the police and the community.

It noted that the officers also supported the hosting of the Grande Riviere Secondary School and the District Five Road Races, showing their commitment to local events.

Stephen Victorin, Divisional Officer (Northern Division), shared, “The exercise successfully achieved its goals, primarily to foster stronger connections between police officers and the communities we serve.”

“These interactions allow for a valuable exchange of ideas, helping us work towards creating safer neighbourhoods that we all strive for. By the end of the day, we felt a deep sense of accomplishment, having renewed trust and communication with the people of Richfond,” Victorin stated.

” Our aim is to make this kind of engagement a regular part of the police service,” he explained.

In addition, Victorin thanked the community for their warm reception and observed that the police wanted to reassure them of a commitment to serving them with professionalism, pride, and integrity.
