On Thursday, Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) emergency personnel rushed a man to the hospital after responding to a shooting report.
The incident occurred at about 12:30 am in Garrand, Babonneau.
At the scene, the responders found the man conscious and alert on the ground with a penetrating wound to the chest.
Before transporting him for further medical attention, the SLFS personnel administered emergency first aid.
According to information, the patient was stable at the time.
Recently, the police presented data indicating that Saint Lucia experienced a spike in serious crime from January 1 to October 31, 2024, compared to 2023.
Serious crime increased from 1,643 cases in 2023 to 1699 cases in 2024.
The police recovered 72 illegal guns and 1318 rounds of ammunition during the review period.

In addition, in 2024, law enforcement solved 215 cases of firearm-related crime out of a total of 284 cases, achieving a higher detection rate of seventy-six percent compared to 2023.
